  • May poach playing time from Taylor
Bae will start in center field and bat ninth in Thursday's game against the Giants, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: Bae will stick in the starting nine for the second time in three games and may end up getting a look in the strong side of a platoon in center field with the right-handed-hitting Michael Taylor, who is on the bench Thursday and has been withheld from the lineup in four straight matchups versus righties. After being called up from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Bae impressed in his 2024 big-league debut later that night in the Pirates' 7-6 win over San Francisco, going 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base, two runs and an RBI. • Hitting flips
Friedl (thumb) has progressed to hitting flipped balls in the cage and hopes to be cleared to take batting practice soon, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Friedl is making a rapid recovery from a fractured left thumb, an injury he suffered just 11 days ago. If the outfielder is able to take batting practice soon, a brief rehab assignment should follow shortly after. He would appear on track for an early June return. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago
  • Julio Rodríguez batting 6th for Mariners on Thursday
Julio Rodríguez has been moved down to sixth in the order for Thursday’s game against the Yankees.

Advice: Rodríguez hasn’t gotten off to the hot start many expected, but the move is a bit curious considering his average is up to .272 in May and his strikeout rate is down to 22 percent. The power has certainly not come, as he has just one home run in 20 games in May; however, he also has just one home run this season on 16 pulled flyballs and line drives so it feels like he’s been a bit unlucky in that regard. He has been struggling a bit with inside pitches and hits too many groundballs overall, but this feels more like a power cold streak than a true outage. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago
  • Out of lineup with hand injury
Fraley (hand) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Fraley will miss out on a second consecutive start while he manages a bruised and swollen right hand. The Reds seem to be viewing Fraley as day-to-day, so he could be available off the bench in the series finale. Rotowire.com 27 minutes ago
  • Sitting again Thursday
Taylor is out of the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Giants, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: Ji Hwan Bae has started in center field against two right-handers since he was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis earlier this week, with Taylor getting the call versus the lone lefty. Taylor has now been on the bench versus a righty in four straight games, so he could be falling into the short side of a platoon with the lefty-hitting Bae. Rotowire.com 28 minutes ago
  • Absent from lineup
Suwinski is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Giants, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: The Giants are using a left-handed pitcher in Erik Miller to open Thursday's contest, so the lefty-hitting Suwinski will begin the game on the bench. Suwinski will be a candidate to enter mid-game if the Giants turn to a right-hander out of the bullpen. Rotowire.com 31 minutes ago
  • Sitting for second time in series
Haniger is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

Advice: Haniger will hit the bench for the second time in the series, and he could find himself in more of a part-time role or short-side platoon role moving forward after the Mariners recently welcomed Dominic Canzone back from the injured list. With Canzone and the hot-hitting Luke Raley having made cases for regular roles in the corner outfield, Mitch Garver could represent Haniger's primary competition for playing time at designated hitter. Haniger has turned in an underwhelming .587 OPS this month and is slashing .217/.280/.361 overall on the season. Rotowire.com 35 minutes ago
  • Idle against southpaw
Marsh is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rangers, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Marsh will bow out of the starting nine for the series finale as the Phillies face off against a lefty (Andrew Heaney) in a day game after a night game. Whit Merrifield will step in for Marsh in left field and will bat eighth. Rotowire.com 47 minutes ago
  • Heading to bench Wednesday
Rojas is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rangers, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Rojas will receive a breather in the day game after a night game, ending a stretch of five consecutive starts in center field. Cristian Pache will fill in for Rojas in the field and will bat ninth in the series finale. Rotowire.com 48 minutes ago
