    • Michael Lorenzen limits Dodgers to one over seven
Michael Lorenzen held the Dodgers to just a run while firing seven innings to get a win Thursday.

Advice: Lorenzen allowed just a solo homer to Andy Pages. The right-handed hurler wasn’t dominant with just two strikeouts, but he wasn’t challenged often while allowing four hits with one walk. Lorenzen has mostly been solid when available for the Rangers, and this outing lowers his ERA to 2.86. He gets the Mets on Tuesday, if Texas doesn’t make adjustments to the rotation. • Garrett Crochet weaves gem with 13 strikeouts
Garrett Crochet struck out 13 batters over seven innings of one-run baseball but didn’t pick up a decision Thursday against the Mariners.

Advice: Crochet was absolutely dominant while taking advantage of a team that strikes out at an enormous rate, so the results are equally impressive and not surprising. He did allow a solo homer to Tyler Locklear, but outside of that and a Victor Robles double, it was smooth sailing for the 24-year-old. The 13 punchouts are a season-high, but this is a hurler who has already fanned 116 batters in just-under 83 innings with a 3.16 ERA. Crochet is an absolute must-start regardless of opponent, and he gets the Astros on Wednesday. Rotoworld Thursday, 9:23 pm

    • Cleared to start Sunday
Lively (undisclosed) is listed as the Guardians' probable starting pitcher for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays in Toronto.

Advice: Lively experienced some unspecified tightness during his most recent start in Miami on Saturday, when he tossed five shutout innings prior to being lifted. The issue won't result in Lively's turn being skipped, but he'll be pushed back in the schedule and given a full week off before stepping back into the rotation. After joining the Guardians this offseason on a modest one-year, $750,000 contract, Lively has been a valuable piece of the Cleveland rotation in 2024, going 6-2 with a 2.59 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over 55.2 innings across 10 starts. • Another strong outing Wednesday
Myers (3-2) earned the win Wednesday over the Blue Jays, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out four.

Advice: A Davis Schneider homer in the first inning accounted for all the damage against Myers on Wednesday. The rookie right-hander has made two starts since he was recalled from Triple-A in late May, allowing just one run on four hits over 14 innings. The 25-year-old Myers has certainly made a case to stick in the Brewers rotation due to Joe Ross (back), Robert Gasser (elbow), Jakob Junis (shoulder) and DL Hall (knee) all being sidelined. He's currently lined up to face the Angels at home in his next outing. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 4:46 pm

    • Tobias Myers quiets Blue Jays to net third win
Tobias Myers gave up one run over six innings on Wednesday in a win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Myers limited Toronto’s struggling lineup to just a first-inning solo shot by Davis Schneider over six frames to pick up his third win of the season. He finished with four strikeouts and only handed out one free pass. With the injuries piling up for Milwaukee’s starting rotation, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Myers get an extended run over the next few weeks leading up to the trade deadline. The 25-year-old righty will bring a respectable 3.76 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 36/14 K/BB ratio across 40 2/3 innings (nine appearances, eight starts) into a tasty road matchup on Tuesday against the rebuilding Angels. • Should make next start
Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said Tuesday that Lively (undisclosed) has checked out fine and is expected to make his next turn through the rotation, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 32-year-old experienced some unspecified tightness during his start in Miami over the weekend, which resulted in him being lifted after five scoreless innings. Lively hasn't had any issues over the past couple days, putting him on track to start this weekend in Toronto. Cleveland should confirm its pitching plans later in the week. • Vogt: Ben Lively to make next scheduled start
Guardians manager Stephen Vogt told reporters Ben Lively (undisclosed) is on track to make his next start.

Advice: Lively went back to Cleveland over the weekend to undergo additional testing for an undisclosed injury. The 32-year-old journeyman appears to have checked out fine and will presumably take the ball on Saturday against the Blue Jays. Rotoworld Tuesday, 2:06 pm

    • Dylan Cease strikes out eight in win over A’s
Dylan Cease won for the first time in a month after holding the A’s to one run in six innings on Monday.

Advice: Cease surrendered eight hits, but only Tyler Soderstrom’s homer in the second did any damage. He struck out eight and walked one in moving to 6-5 with a 3.36 ERA. The eight strikeouts gave him 101 for the season, making him the third pitcher this year, after Tyler Glasnow and Garrett Crochet, to reach the century mark. Rotoworld Monday, 11:31 pm

    • Splendid in victory Monday
Cease (6-5) earned the win over Oakland on Monday, allowing one run on eight hits and one walk while striking out eight batters over six innings.

Advice: Cease surrendered a solo homer to Tyler Soderstrom in the second inning, but that was the only run the A's managed to score against him. The right-handed hurler racked up 15 whiffs among his 104 pitches and gave up fewer than three runs for the first time since May 8. Cease entered Monday with a 5.86 ERA over his previous five starts, and he went 0-3 during that span. However, he still holds a solid 3.36 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 101:23 K:BB over 83 innings on the season. Rotowire.com Monday, 10:23 pm
