    • Irvin allows three runs and picks up win Friday
      Cole Irvin allowed three runs (two earned) in 5 2/3 innings and got the win in the Orioles’ 6-3 victory over the Rays on Friday.



      Advice: Irvin gave up eight hits, walked none and struck out six. The win was his sixth of the season. Irvin hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs since his second start of the year back on April 10th. His ERA on the season is now 2.87, though his 4.19 xFIP tells a different story. The 30-year-old left-hander will see if he can keep it going against the Braves at home next week.

    • Vierling on base twice in loss Friday
      Matt Vierling went 1-for-3 with a walk against the Brewers on Friday.

      Advice: It was a quiet night for the Tigers offense as they were shutout and managed only two hits. Still, Vierling got on base twice out of the leadoff spot. His average is up to .282 with a .794 OPS on the season.     • Receiving third opinion
      The second opinion Gasser received on his left elbow Friday conflicted with the first evaluation, so he's scheduled to visit a third doctor, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

      Advice: According to Hogg, Dr. Neal ElAttrache suggested surgery after examining Gasser's elbow Friday, which was in contrast to the initial evaluation from earlier this week. There's apparently no new structural damage with the flexor strain, but the differing treatment recommendation will result in the 25-year-old receiving a third medical opinion.     • Surgery recommended for Robert Gasser’s elbow
      Robert Gasser will get a third opinion on his elbow after Dr. Neal ElAttrache suggester he undergo surgery.

      Advice: Gasser definitely has some damage in his elbow, but it sounds like the first opinion suggested rest and rehab. The highly respected ElAttrache saw things differently.       Dominguez (elbow) exited in the eighth inning of Thursday's rehab game with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, but the departure was unrelated to the injury sustained by Juan Soto (forearm), Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

      Advice: Dominguez's removal was planned, as he has yet to play a full game on his rehab assignment as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery. Of course, it's still possible Dominguez could replace Soto on the big-league roster should the latter miss time. Soto is set to undergo imaging on his left forearm Friday, and the results will dictate how the Yankees proceed.       Anthony Volpe went 1-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base against the Twins on Thursday.

      Advice: It was a quiet night for the Cardinals offense, but Winn returned from a back injury and added another two hits out of the leadoff spot.
