      Advice: Mateo suffered the injury during Sunday’s game when he was hit in the head by a swing from Cedric Mullins while he was crouched near the on-deck circle. While Mateo reported feeling improvement after the game on Sunday, he’ll still have to pass through the league’s concussion protocol before he’s cleared to return.     • Could get looks in outfield
      Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Saturday that Sosa could be an option to see reps in the outfield once shortstop Trea Turner (hamstring) returns from the 10-day injured list, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

      Advice: Sosa has logged a total of just 5.1 innings of outfield in the majors and has never started a game in the outfield in the professional ranks. He's been outstanding at shortstop since Turner got hurt, slashing .310/.380/.606 with three home runs in 22 games, which has the Phillies contemplating other ways of keeping him in the lineup long term. The Phillies could have an opening in left field if Brandon Marsh (hamstring) needs to miss time, but Sosa will still be needed at shortstop until Turner is back.       Eovaldi will start Monday's game against the Tigers at Globe Life Field.

      Advice: Eovaldi returned from the 15-day injured list last Tuesday and took back his spot in the Texas rotation, but he covered just three innings and tossed 37 pitches in the Rangers' 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks. Because Eovaldi didn't go on a minor-league rehab assignment prior to being activated, the Rangers deliberately limited his workload in what was his first start since May 2. Eovaldi didn't report any renewed discomfort with his right groin coming out of the outing against the Diamondbacks, so he should be in store for a more typical starter's workload Monday.       Ragans pitched six innings in a no-decision Sunday against San Diego, allowing one earned run on five hits and two walks. He struck out six.

      Advice: Ragans was strong yet again Sunday, yielding two earned runs or fewer for the fourth consecutive start. During that span, the 26-year-old has recorded a robust 1.13 ERA and 32:8 K:BB in 24 innings. The hard-throwing southpaw induced 14 swinging strikes Sunday and has shown an impressive ability to miss bats this season, posting 10.97 K/9 thanks to a 15.0 percent swinging strike rate that ranks in the 95th percentile.       Pfaadt (2-4) came away with a no-decision Sunday against the Mets, allowing four earned runs on five hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out eight.

      Advice: Pfaadt was solid outside of a rough third inning in which he allowed all four of his earned runs courtesy of back-to-back triples. The 25-year-old right-hander has now pitched six or more innings in seven consecutive starts and has yet to pitch less than five innings in any start this season. The second-year pro has been inconsistent, pitching to a 4.32 ERA, but his 5.1 K/BB and 1.08 WHIP highlight his ability to miss bats.     • Fernando Tatis Jr. drives in one in loss
      Fernando Tatis Jr. went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI in a loss to the Royals on Sunday.

      Advice: Tatis Jr. gave the Padres a 2-1 lead in the eighth inning with a run-scoring single that should have been enough to close this one out. It was his 31st RBI of the season and while the 25-year-old hasn’t truly exploded at any point this year, he could easily finish the season with 30 home runs and 20 steals, which is impressive work. If he can keep his batting average around .270, he should still put up fringe first-round value even though he hasn’t stood out as an elite fantasy player at any stretch this season.     • Cole Ragans pitches well in no decision
      Cole Ragans allowed one run on five hits in six innings in a no-decision against the Padres on Sunday.

      Advice: The left-hander struck out six and walked two on the day while recording 14 whiffs on 46 swings for a 30 percent whiff rate and 27 percent CSW. He had some issues finding the strike zone with his off-speed pitches, but the induced whiffs outside of the zone and the Padres were unable to square him up. He now has a 3.21 ERA on the season and is a must-start every week, including next week against the Mariners. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:34 pm
       
    • Going through concussion protocol
      Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Mateo is going through the concussion protocol after exiting Sunday's game versus the Rays, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Mateo was struck in the head by the bat of teammate Cedric Mullins around the on-deck circle and was subsequently removed from the contest.     • Brandon Pfaadt allows four runs in six innings
      Brandon Pfaadt pitched six innings on Sunday against the Mets. He struck out eight and walked two batters.

      Advice: Pfaadt pitched very well in this game despite the four earned runs. The Mets were swinging over his sweeper all afternoon before a rally with back-to-back triples by Brandon Nimmo and J.D. Martinez fueled all four of their runs. Still, good but not great has been the story with Pfaadt all season. He will take a 4.32 ERA into his next start against the Padres. Rotoworld Sunday, 1:45 pm
