    • Gets break Thursday
Gimenez is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: The lefty infielder will get a break as Cleveland takes on southpaw pitcher Garrett Crochet. Gimenez will miss the starting lineup for the first time in 12 matchups and has slashed .229/.288/.333 with five RBI and one home run in that stretch. Rotowire.com 20 minutes ago
    • Clubs 10th homer
Naylor went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the White Sox.

Advice: Naylor has homered three times over his last eight games and now has 10 long balls on the year. The first baseman is batting .259 (7-for-27) with a 5:4 BB:K through eight contests in May. His career high in homers is 20 from the 2022 campaign, but he's on pace to shatter that mark in 2024. He's slashing .277/.364/.562 with 29 RBI, 20 runs scored and two stolen bases over 36 games this season. Rotowire.com Today, 9:50 am

    • Three hits, two RBI in win
Garcia went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Angels.

Advice: Garcia singled in the top of the third before coming around to score on a Vinnie Pasquantino home run and later added two doubles to give him his first three-hit performance of the season. The third baseman has now hit safely in four consecutive games and in six of eight games to open this month, tallying four RBI and four runs scored over that latter stretch. However, he hasn't stolen a base since April 30. Rotowire.com Today, 6:51 am

    • Maikel Garcia collects three hits, two RBI
Maikel Garcia finished 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI against the Angels on Thursday.

Advice: Garcia was due for some luck, and he got it tonight, as both of his doubles came on balls hit less than 80 mph. His highest EV in the contest, a 104-mph grounder, actually produced an out. The Royals have remained very patient with Garcia in the leadoff spot, and odds are that he’ll only get better from here. • Homers Thursday
Kepler went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, two total RBI and two total runs scored in Thursday's 11-1 win over the Mariners.

Advice: Kepler extended his hitting streak to 11 games -- he's recorded at least one hit in 15 of his last 16 contests, going 23-for-53 (.434) in that span. It's been quite a start to the year for the 31-year-old Kepler, as he's now slashing .329/.390/.562 with three homers, 14 RBI and 11 runs scored through his first 21 games. • Wins third straight
Lopez (4-2) earned the win Thursday over the Mariners, allowing one run on four hits over 6.1 innings. He struck out 10.

Advice: Lopez was excellent Thursday, holding Seattle to a lone second-inning run while recording a season-high 10 strikeouts. After an inconsistent start to the campaign, Lopez looks to be settling in -- he's won his last three starts while holding opponents to one run in back-to-back outings. He lowered his ERA to 3.89 with a 0.98 WHIP and a stellar 55:8 K:BB across eight starts (44 innings) this year. Lopez is currently slated for a home matchup with the Yankees in his next outing. • Out 10 weeks following arm surgery
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Thursday that Contreras is likely to be sidelined for about 10 weeks after successful surgery Wednesday to repair a fractured left forearm, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Contreras had offered a 6-to-8 week timetable himself earlier this week, but indications are that it will probably be a bit longer than that. It puts the catcher out likely until right around the All-Star break. Ivan Herrera will operate as the Cardinals' primary catcher while Contreras is sidelined, with Pedro Pages backing him up. • Willson Contreras likely out until All-Star break
Willson Contreras underwent successful surgery on Wednesday to repair a fractured left forearm.

Advice: Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol told reporters Contreras is likely to miss upwards of 10 weeks, rather than the 6-8 week timetable the veteran backstop provided earlier this week. The 31-year-old figures to be on the shelf until sometime right around the All-Star break in mid-July. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:42 pm

    • Max Kepler homers as Twins rout Mariners
Max Kepler went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored Thursday in a rout of the Mariners.

Advice: Kepler blistered a solo shot off Tyson Miller in the seventh inning. The 31-year-old has gone deep three times this year, and the pair of knocks sees his slash improve to .329/.390/.562. There’s still three-quarters of the year to be played, but Kepler is enjoying easily his best MLB season thus far in 2024. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:04 pm
