    • Swats fourth homer Tuesday
Rafaela went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Rays.

Advice: It was a roller coaster night for the 23-year-old. Rafaela gave Boston a 3-1 lead in the fifth inning by taking Aaron Civale deep for his fourth long ball of the year, but his throwing error in the top of the 11th nearly gave Tampa Bay the win. The Red Sox were able to tie the game back up in the bottom of the frame, though, in part thanks to Rafaela's sacrifice bunt, before winning it in the 12th. Rafaela has collected a hit in 10 of 12 contests in May, batting .275 (11-for-40) on the month with two doubles and two homers, but his 1:11 BB:K is a warning sign that his numbers could swoon quickly as they did in April (.515 OPS in 26 games.) • Rafaela homers in win over Rays
Ceddanne Rafaela went 1-for-3 with a home run and a sac bunt in a win over the Rays on Tuesday.

Advice: The 23-year-old got a little bit lucky on a 344-foot home run that was well-hit at 102.5 mph off the bat but would have only been a home run in eight MLB stadiums. However, it continues a solid stretch of production for the rookie who has gone 16-for-52 (.308) over his last 15 games with three home runs, 13 RBI, seven runs, and one steal. He still has 14 strikeouts to just one walk over that span, so his long swing will continue to be an issue for him as he adjusts to MLB pitching, but we’re starting to see some of the fantasy potential shine through, which makes him worthy of an add in deeper formats. • Could return Friday
Carter (back) received a cortisone injection and is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Guardians, but he could rejoin the lineup as soon as Friday versus the Angels, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning Newsreports.

Advice: The 21-year-old hasn't seen the field since Saturday and was diagnosed with lower-back inflammation after an MRI on Monday. He'll now be unavailable for at least a couple more days following the injection. Ezequiel Duran is receiving another start in left field Tuesday in Carter's stead. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:36 pm

    • Evan Carter (back) not in Tuesday’s lineup
Evan Carter (back) is absent from the lineup for Tuesday’s contest against the Guardians.

Advice: Carter is targeting a return to the Rangers’ lineup later this week after receiving a cortisone injection on Wednesday to address lower back inflammation. The 21-year-old outfielder appears likely to avoid the injured list, barring something unexpected, and should be ready to roll at some point in a couple days. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:42 pm

    • Dominguez (elbow) beginning rehab assignment
Jasson Dominguez (elbow) is beginning his rehab assignment with Low-A Tampa on Tuesday.

Advice: Dominguez will begin facing competition as he works his way back from the Tommy John surgery he underwent in September. The 21-year-old will likely need to spend a couple of weeks — at least — playing minor-league games before having a chance to return to the New York lineup near the start of June. Dominguez is extremely talented, but he’s a very risky option for the 2024 season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:06 am

    • Receiving cortisone shot
Carter's MRI revealed inflammation in his lower back, and he'll get a cortisone shot Tuesday, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.

Advice: He could be back in the lineup within a few days if all goes well following the cortisone injection, per Wilson. Carter's absence has allowed for Ezequiel Duran to find everyday work while moving around the diamond, and Robbie Grossman also recently picked up a start in left field. Rotowire.com Monday, 8:18 pm

    • Evan Carter (back) hopes to play soon after MRI
Evan Carter hopes to be ready to return later this week after an MRI revealed only inflammation in his lower back.

Advice: Carter missed a third straight game Monday due to the back soreness. Travis Jankowski is picking up extra playing time in his place. Rotoworld Monday, 8:13 pm

    • Undergoing MRI on injured back
Carter will undergo an MRI on his back Monday, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.

Advice: Carter is out of the lineup for a fourth straight game Monday against the Guardians, with the last three absences due to a lower-back problem. The fact that the injury has necessitated an MRI points to a possible stint on the 10-day injured list, but more information on Carter's should be known once the results are in. Ezequiel Duran will start in left field for the Rangers on Monday. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:34 pm

    • Remains out with injury Monday
Carter (back) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Guardians.

Advice: Carter is on the bench for the fourth game in a row, with each of the last three absences being attributed to lower-back stiffness. The Rangers are still labeling the 21-year-old as day-to-day, but a trip to the 10-day injured list shouldn't be discounted, given that the team was concerned enough about the issue to have Carter visit with a back specialist Monday, per ESPN.com. Carter previously dealt with a stress fracture in his back during the 2021 season. Rotowire.com Monday, 1:23 pm
