    • Dominates Atlanta
Castillo (3-4) earned the win over Atlanta on Tuesday, tossing seven shutout innings while allowing just three hits and a walk. He struck out seven.

Advice: Castillo was dominant once again en route to his third consecutive win. He registered 20 whiffs with 10 of those coming from his fastball and did not give up an extra-base knock. It's safe to say that Castillo is rounding back into ace form. Over his last four starts, he's posted a 1.38 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 31:4 K:BB in 26 innings while allowing a .174 opponent batting average over that span. The 31-year-old will look to keep it rolling in a projected road start against the red-hot Twins next week. Rotowire.com Today, 4:01 am
    • Luis Castillo blanks Atlanta over seven to get win
Luis Castillo didn’t allow a run in seven innings of work to help the Mariners to a 3-2 win over Atlanta on Tuesday.

Advice: The Seattle pitching staff has been dominant over the past two weeks, and Castillo kept the run going. The 31-year-old ace allowed just three hits with one walk, and he struck out seven in a game where he wasn’t really challenged. Castillo was disappointing in his first three starts, but he’s been anything but over the last three weeks. He’ll face the Twins in Minnesota next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:47 pm
    • Assad struggles to miss bats in no decision
Javier Assad allowed one run on five hits in five innings in a no-decision against the Mets on Tuesday.

Advice: Assad didn’t walk a batter on the night, but he had just one strikeout, a seven percent whiff rate, and a 17 percent CSW. He had just three whiffs on 45 swings in the game and all three of them came on version of a fastball. Assad doesn’t have overpowering stuff, but he can mix and match the shapes and movement on his fastball and has a deep six-pitch arsenal that keeps hitters off balance. That worked tonight and it’s worked for much of the season as evidenced by his 1.97 ERA, but it’s a risky tightrope to walk. He’s still worth starting in most formats while he’s going well, but he can possibly be benched in shallower leagues with weekend against the Brewers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:20 pm

    • Stingy in no-decision Tuesday
Assad came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Mets, allowing one run on five hits over five innings. He struck out one without walking a batter.

Advice: The 26-year-old righty didn't allow much hard contact, as all five hits off him were singles, and Assad tossed 55 of 78 pitches for strikes before leaving the mound with the score tied 1-1. He's had an impressive start to his campaign, and Assad will take a 1.97 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 27:9 K:BB through 32 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home this weekend against the Brewers. • Delivers 11-strikeout gem
Pfaadt did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Mariners. He allowed two runs on five hits while striking out 11 over six innings.

Advice: Pfaadt did not get off to an ideal start after allowing a leadoff home run to Josh Rojas, though he was able to settle in quickly with the only other extra-base hit being a triple by Leonardo Rivas. Pfaadt ended his day by retiring the final 11 batters he faced. His 11 strikeouts set a new career high, and he relied heavily on his sweeper, registering nine of his 17 whiffs on that pitch. He's now allowed two runs or fewer in three straight starts and will take a 4.63 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 38:6 K:BB into his next start, projected to come against San Diego next weekend. • Brandon Pfaadt fans 11 in no-decision vs. Mariners
Brandon Pfaadt was terrific in a no-decision against the Mariners on Sunday afternoon, piling up 11 strikeouts over six innings of two-run baseball.

Advice: The right-hander allowed five hits in the ballgame and didn’t walk a batter. He gave up a leadoff homer to Josh Rojas to start the game, then kept the Mariners off the board the rest of the away aside from an RBI single off the bat of Julio Rodriguez in the third inning. The 25-year-old hurler got an impressive 17 swings and misses in the ballgame — nine on his sweeper alone — leading to an elite CSW of 38 percent. Pfaadt will look to further improve upon his 4.63 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 38/6 K/BB ratio (35 innings) when he takes on the Padres at home on Saturday. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:08 pm

    • Andrew Abbott can’t overcome poor first in defeat
Andrew Abbott gave up four runs over five innings Sunday in a loss to the Rangers.

Advice: All of the runs scored in the first. Two came on an inside-the-park homer, but it was a legit inside-the-park homer and not one the defense could have done much about. The other two were produced by a regular old homer from Adolis García. Abbott went on to strike out seven and walk none, so this was a pretty solid day for him. He deserves better than a 1-3 record for his 3.27 ERA. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:42 pm
    • Struggles early against Texas
Abbott (1-3) was tagged with the loss after he pitched 5.1 innings, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out seven in Sunday's 4-3 defeat to the Rangers.

Advice: Abbott struggled early, surrendering a pair of two-run home runs in the first inning, including an inside-the-park homer to Wyatt Langford, which gave the Rangers a 4-0 lead. The left-hander was able to settle down after the difficult first frame, tossing 4.1 scoreless innings to end his outing. Abbott entered Sunday having given up two or fewer runs in each of his five starts in 2024, but he'll now carry a 3.27 ERA into his next projected start Saturday at home versus the Orioles. • Bello expected back “sooner rather than later”
Red Sox’ skipper Alex Cora told reporters on Sunday that Brayan Bello (lat) is making great progress in his recovery and is expected back “sooner rather than later”.

Advice: That certainly qualifies as an encouraging update for the injured right-hander. It’s unclear if Bello will require a minor league rehab start or not before rejoining the Red Sox rotation, but it’s sounding like he could be ready to be activated from the injured list when first eligible, or shortly after.
