    • Hits bench against lefty
Raley is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Raley had started in left field in four of the past five games, but he'll head to the bench for the series finale with southpaw Chris Sale on the bump for Atlanta. Switch-hitter Sam Haggerty will draw the start in left field Wednesday, but Raley should occupy the strong side of a platoon at the position until Dominic Canzone (shoulder) returns from the 10-day injured list. • Blanks reds over five innings
Darvish (1-1) grabbed a win over the Reds on Tuesday, tossing five shutout innings while allowing just three hits in the outing. He struck three and did not walk a batter.

Advice: Darvish was finally able to pick up his first win of the season and help the Padres end a five-game losing streak. Tuesday was his first shutout effort since July 29 of last year. He was efficient, needing 70 pitches to get through five while inducing a bunch of weak contact. His strikeout numbers remain low in comparison to his career numbers, as he's now struck out three or fewer batters in three of his six starts so far. Still, Tuesday's outing was exactly what the Padres needed out of him, and he'll take a 3.45 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 25:10 K:BB into his next outing, which projects to be against the Cubs at the beginning of next week. • Swats first homer of season
Massey went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Massey has hit safely in four straight games, going 4-for-14 with three RBI and three runs scored. The 26-year-old is seeing a majority of the playing time at second base since he returned from a back injury that shelved him for a month. Massey is batting .212 with one homer, five RBI, five runs scored and no stolen bases through 10 contests. Barring a deep slump, Massey should continue to play more frequently than Adam Frazier at second base, though Frazier has also gotten looks in the corner outfield spots and at designated hitter. • Goes deep in nightcap
Donovan went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in an 11-6 loss to the Tigers in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader.

Advice: Donovan sparked the Cardinals' fifth-inning rally with his homer. The utility man had hit safely in five straight games before going 0-for-4 in the matinee contest. Donovan is slashing .228/.311/.377 with three homers, 16 RBI, 13 runs scored and no stolen bases over 132 plate appearances this season. He remains the Cardinals' preferred leadoff batter and left fielder despite his mediocre hitting so far. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:35 pm

    • Mitch Keller gives up three runs in loss to A’s
Mitch Keller dropped to 2-3 after allowing three runs in five innings Tuesday against the A’s.

Advice: Keller struck out seven tonight, so that’s not bad. Still, he should have far better than a 5.18 ERA while facing a pretty easy schedule to date. His slider is just broken, and his lack of a true offspeed pitch has caught up to him big time. There’s still plenty of hope here for the long run, but we’d feel better about him if he pitched for a team with more of a clue. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:38 pm
    • Yu Darvish blanks Reds for five innings in win
Yu Darvish shut out the Reds for five innings to win Tuesday in his return from the injured list.

Advice: Darvish allowed three hits, walked none and struck out three in the 6-4 victory. It’s his first win in six starts this season, and it’s the first time he’s gone without allowing a run since last July 29 against the Rangers. He’ll face his previous club, the Cubs, next time out on Friday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:05 pm
    • Middling once again
Keller (2-3) took the loss Tuesday, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings against the A's. He struck out seven.

Advice: Although Keller punched out seven batters for a second consecutive outing, he was tagged for a trio of runs, including a solo homer by JJ Bleday. After entering the 2024 season with relatively high expectations, Keller has fallen to a 5.18 ERA through 40.0 innings and has surrendered five or more hits in all seven starts. He's scheduled for a home start against the Angels on Monday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:48 pm
    • Massey homers in win over Blue Jays
Michael Massey went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in a win over the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Advice: Massey took a second-inning pitch from Jose Berríos and deposited it 404 feet for his first home run of the season. It was all the Royals would need on the day. Massey has returned to an everyday role since coming off the injured list a little over a week ago. He’s slashing just .212/.212/.333 with five RBI, but he should get it going and remains firmly on the radar for 15-team fantasy leagues and deeper. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:09 pm
    • Nails down save No. 10
Helsley struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to record his 10th save of the season in the first game of a doubleheader against the Tigers.

Advice: All 10 pitches Helsley fired were strikes, and he hit triple digits on the radar gun with three of them. The right-hander has been lights out to begin the season, converting 10 of 11 save chances with a 1.69 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 19:2 K:BB through 16 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:08 pm
