    • Brent Rooker goes deep in loss to Blue Jays
Brent Rooker blasted his 13th home run of the season on Sunday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Athletics past the Blue Jays.

Advice: Rooker got the A’s on the board with his 436-foot (110.0 mph EV) solo shot on the first pitch that he saw from Nate Pearson in the sixth inning. That would be his only hit in five at-bats on the day. For the season, the 29-year-old slugger is slashing a respectable .270/.356/.541 to go with his 13 long balls and 40 RBI. • Solid in no-decision
Jones did not factor into the decision Sunday against Minnesota, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Jones struggled to find his footing early in this one, allowing all three of his runs in a shaky first inning where he walked two batters and allowed the bases to be loaded with just one out. The 22-year-old rookie was able to settle in afterwards, but his control has been a minor cause for concern recently -- Sunday was his fourth-consecutive game allowing multiple walks. In that span, Jones has compiled a 4.25 ERA, a 1.46 WHIP and a meager 16:11 K:BB over 21.2 innings. Jones is still an excellent fantasy option moving forward, although he will be tested in his next start, currently scheduled for next weekend at Coors Field in Colorado. Rotowire.com 53 minutes ago

    • Homer short of cycle
Westburg went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple and two runs scored during Sunday's 9-2 win over Tampa Bay.

Advice: Westburg hit a triple for the second consecutive game, bringing his season total to five triples -- tied for the fourth most in baseball. The third baseman did most of his damage against the bullpen, with his triple coming off Phil Maton in the eighth inning and notching a single off Pete Fairbanks in the ninth. Westburg is 6-for-14 with a homer, three RBI and three runs over the first three games of the O's four-game set against Tampa Bay. Rotowire.com Today, 2:56 pm

    • Jared Jones battles in no decision on Sunday
Jared Jones allowed three runs on six hits in five innings in a no-decision against the Twins on Sunday.

Advice: The rookie also walked three and struck out three on the day. Jones got 14 whiffs on 42 swings for a 33 percent whiff rate and 29 percent CSW, but he also allowed nine hard-hit baseballs on the day. Jones has now allowed three earned runs in four of his last five starts, but the other start was a masterful shutout of the Dodgers, which shows you just how hard it is to bench Jones when he has this much raw talent. There will be some ups and downs in his rookie season, and it’s understandable if you want to bench Jones next week in Coors Field, but the rookie’s stuff hasn’t shown any meaningful decline. • Jack Flaherty (back) won’t start Tuesday vs. WSH
Jack Flaherty (back) will not start Tuesday against the Nationals.

Advice: Flaherty told reporters that he was confident he’d be able to start Tuesday’s game after leaving with back tightness against the Rangers last week, but the Tigers want to give the right-hander some more time to recuperate. Kenta Maeda, Reese Olson and Casey Mize will start in the series against Washington, and Flaherty will get the ball against the Astros on either Friday or Saturday. Rotoworld Today, 8:38 am

    • Reaches twice in shutout loss
Rooker went 1-for-3 with a walk in a loss to the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Advice: The Athletics only managed five hits -- all singles -- against a masterful Kevin Gausman in the shutout loss, so Rooker had what could be termed a relatively successful night in that context. The 29-year-old has been one of the Athletics' more consistent bats over the first two months-plus of the season yet is off to an uneven start to June -- he's recorded a double, triple, home run and four RBI, but he's also hitting just .217 overall (5-for-23) while striking out at a 33.3 percent clip. • Contract officially selected
Waldrep had his contract selected from Triple-A Gwinnett ahead of his start Sunday against the Nationals.

Advice: The 22-year-old was previously announced as the starter for Sunday's series finale in Washington, and he's now officially been added to the MLB roster. Waldrep was recently promoted to Gwinnett from Double-A Mississippi and will make his big-league debut with just two career games under his belt at Triple-A. He's pitched well between the two affiliates this season with a 3.09 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 59:18 K:BB across 55.1 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 6:37 am

    • Reaches 15-steal mark
Rengifo went 0-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in Saturday's 6-1 loss to the Astros.

Advice: Rengifo is one of 11 players to reach 15 steals so far this season, though he's also been caught five times. He's gone 0-for-8 over the last two games after opening June with a five-game hitting streak. The infielder is slashing .312/.361/.447 with four home runs, 18 RBI and 24 runs scored over 48 contests as one of the top hitters in the Angels' lineup. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:59 pm

    • Ha-Seong Kim swats three-run homer in blowout
Ha-Seong Kim hit a three-run homer in a blowout win for the Padres on Saturday over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Kim also walked. The shortstop’s three-run blast extended San Diego’s lead to 4-0 and gave Kim nine on the 2024 campaign. Kim has provided some power/speed over the first two-plus months of the season, and it’s helped made up for a batting average of just .224. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:09 pm
