    • Solid in no-decision
Singer didn't factor in the decision Saturday at Detroit after he allowed one run on four hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out six.

Advice: The right-hander gave up a run on a walk and a triple during the second inning but blanked the Tigers in his other four frames. Despite the strong run prevention, it was the third straight start with three walks for Singer, who generated just eight swings-and-misses Saturday. The 27-year-old has enjoyed a strong first month of the season with a 2.62 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 34:13 K:BB across 34.1 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 7:23 am
    • Brady Singer fans six in tough-luck no-decision
Brady Singer was terrific in a tough-luck no-decision against the Tigers on Saturday night, racking up six strikeouts over five innings of one-run baseball.

Advice: The 27-year-old hurler scattered four hits and three walks on the night. The lone tally against him came on an RBI triple off the bat of Zach McKinstry in the second inning. Singer generated eight swings and misses on 93 pitches on the night — six on his slider — while registering a CSW of 34 percent. He now boasts a 2.62 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and a 34/13 K/BB ratio over 34 1/3 innings through his first six starts. He’ll do battle against the Rangers his next time out on Friday. • Hit hard in Saturday's loss
Kikuchi (2-2) took the loss Saturday, giving up four runs on nine hits over six innings as the Blue Jays fell 4-2 to the Dodgers. He struck out three without walking a batter.

Advice: While the southpaw managed to keep the ball in the yard, he still gave up some very loud contact, including three extra-base hits and an RBI single by Shohei Ohtani in the second inning that left his bat with a stunning exit velocity of 119.2 mph. Kikuchi saw his quality start streak end at three, but he'll take a strong 2.94 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 36:8 K:BB through 33.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next weekend against the Nationals. • Yusei Kikuchi gives up four runs in loss to Dodgers
Yusei Kikuchi allowed four runs with three strikeouts over six innings in a loss against the Dodgers on Saturday.

Advice: Kikuchi gave up too much contact that found open field against the Dodgers. He allowed a leadoff triple to Mookie Betts to start the game, who then scored on a sacrifice fly. Four base hits in the second inning would bring in two more runs for Los Angeles. Kikuchi worked around a base hit in the third, then gave up a fourth run on two hits in the fourth. He finished strong with pair of clean innings in the fifth and sixth, striking out three on the day. The 32-year-old left-hander will take a 2.94 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and a 36/8 K/BB ratio across 33 2/3 innings into a road start against the Nationals on Friday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:59 pm

    • Framber Valdez to go 70-75 pitches on Sunday
Astros’ manager Joe Espada told reporters on Saturday that Framber Valdez is expected to throw around 70-75 pitches in Sunday’s start against the Rockies.

Advice: It’s no surprise that Valdez would be a bit limited in his first start back from the injured list, so fantasy managers need to be aware that he may not stick around long enough to earn a victory. That — and the high run-scoring environment in Mexico City — may mean it’s best to leave Valdez on the bench before inserting him back into lineups for next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:57 pm

    • Taken off IL
The Astros removed Valdez (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Saturday, per the MLB transaction log.

Advice: Valdez is set to start in Sunday's game against the Rockies as part of a two-game series in Mexico City. The 30-year-old southpaw landed on the Astros' 15-day IL on April 9 due to left elbow inflammation. Valdez threw a 40-pitch bullpen session Wednesday, and he will likely be on a pitch count over his first few outings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:23 am

    • Astros activate Framber Valdez for Sunday return
Astros activated LHP Framber Valdez from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: It’s merely a procedural move as Valdez was set to rejoin Houston’s starting rotation to take the ball during Sunday’s series finale in Mexico City against the Rockies. The combination of some likely have some workload restrictions and Mexico City’s extremely hitter-friendly offensive environment make him a risky proposition for fantasy managers right out of the gate. • Struggles against Brewers
Gil surrendered five earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out six batters across five innings during Friday's loss to Milwaukee. He didn't factor into the decision.

Advice: Though he was able to limit his struggles with walking batters, Gil's five runs and six hits allowed represented season highs for the 25-year-old, who now owns a 4.01 ERA and 1.34 WHIP through five starts. He's lined up to face another high-octane offense in Baltimore on Wednesday, and he could be at risk of getting hit around again if his command doesn't improve. • Luis Gil allows five over five in no-decision
Luis Gil gave up five runs in as many innings of work with six strikeouts in a no-decision against the Brewers on Friday.

Advice: Gil had one of his better days in terms of control with just two walks and 62-of-97 pitches landing in the strike zone. The 25-year-old didn’t have his best command, however, and gave up a pair of homers in a start where he was shaky — at best — throughout the contest. Gil will be back on the bump next week with a 4.01 ERA against the Orioles. Rotoworld Friday, 8:28 pm
