    • Kutter Crawford struggles again in loss to O’s
      Kutter Crawford struggled again in Wednesday’s loss to the Orioles, giving up five runs on four hits over six innings of work.

      Advice: The right-hander punched out five batters on the night while issuing a pair of walks. All of the scoring against him came in the second inning, as Ramon Urias smacked an RBI single and then Gunnar Henderson changed the game with a 422-foot grand slam. Crawford rebounded nicely to finish the day with four scoreless frames, but the damage had already been done. The 28-year-old hurler got 10 swings and misses on 96 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 22 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he carries a 3.29 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and a 66/22 K/BB ratio (68 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Braves. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:06 pm

      Bassitt (neck) is listed as Toronto's probable starter for Sunday's game against the Pirates, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

      Advice: The veteran right-hander made an early exit from his start Monday against the White Sox after pitching through neck spasms for five scoreless innings.       Wheeler did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's loss to the Giants, throwing six scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and two walks. He struck out nine.

      Advice: Wheeler's excellent start got wasted after the Phillies were shut out in Tuesday's loss. The Giants scattered just two hits against him, and his most dominant inning came in the third when he struck out the side. Tuesday was Wheeler's third start this season tossing a shutout while allowing two or fewer hits and striking out at least eight. He now has nine quality starts in 12 tries and will carry a 2.32 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 85:23 K:BB (73.2 innings) into a projected outing against the Brewers to begin next week.       Advice: Brown was exceptional Tuesday, notching a career high in strikeouts and carrying a perfect game into the fifth inning when he walked Jake Bauers and Sal Frelick. Although Brown has bounced between the rotation and the bullpen this season, he's yielded one hit and four walks with 16 Ks across 11.0 innings during this stint as a starter -- an impressive stretch that could result in Brown sticking in the rotation long term.     • Zack Wheeler shuts down Giants in no-decision
      Zack Wheeler blanked the Giants for six innings, allowing just two hits, in a no-decision Tuesday.

      Advice: Wheeler wasn’t at his most efficient tonight, but that didn’t really matter, since the Phillies went 10 innings without scoring. It’s Wheeler’s ninth quality start in 12 tries, and he lowered his ERA to 2.32. Still, the Phillies bizarrely are only 6-6 when he pitches, compared to 32-12 the rest of the time.     • Short start as expected
      Eovaldi allowed two runs on five hits and struck out two without walking a batter over three innings while taking a no-decision in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: Eovaldi wasn't sent on a rehab assignment and was reportedly on a pitch count for his return from a groin strain. The right-hander ended up throwing 37 pitches (27 strikes) in his first start since May 2. Eovaldi is at a 2.84 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 46:19 K:BB through 44.1 innings over eight starts this season. Given his limited workload Tuesday, Eovaldi may need to be stretched out over the next couple of weeks. That may make it tough for him to qualify for the win in his next projected start. It's possible Eovaldi pitches again this weekend versus Miami, as Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports that Andrew Heaney -- who threw 2.1 innings in relief Tuesday -- could be used as a long reliever while the Rangers' schedule doesn't require them to have five starters.     • Ben Brown no-hits the Brewers for seven innings
      Ben Brown pitched seven innings of no-hit ball in the Cubs’ win over the Brewers on Tuesday.

      Advice: Brown was excellent in this one. The righty needed just 41 pitches to get through the first four innings and struck out six of the first 12 batters he faced to start the game. His two walks allowed were his lone blemishes on the evening, but Brown has now allowed just two hits in his last 13 innings pitched while boasting a 19/5 K/BB ratio. Brown lowered his ERA to 2.72 on the season but was robbed of his second win after Hector Neris blew a save opportunity in the ninth.       Gibson (4-2) earned the win Tuesday over Cincinnati, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: Gibson was excellent Tuesday, as he held the Reds to one hit until Will Benson ended his shutout bid with a homer in the sixth inning. The 36-year-old Gibson has held opponents to two earned runs or fewer in eight of his last nine outings. He's lowered his ERA to 3.60 with a 1.22 WHIP and 52:25 K:BB across 11 starts (65 innings) this year. Gibson's currently in line for a road matchup with the Astros in his next outing early next week.     • Eovaldi goes three innings in return from IL
      Nathan Eovaldi allowed two earned runs over three innings in Tuesday’s win over the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: After pitching a perfect first inning, Eovaldi ran into trouble in the second, allowing the first three batters he faced to reach base, with Pavin Smith doubling home Christian Walker to give the Diamondbacks their first run of the night. He would give up another run in the inning on a Eugenio Suárez sacrifice fly. He would only pitch one more inning before being pulled after 37 pitches, functioning somewhat as an opener for the Rangers after the team opted to scratch Dane Dunning from his scheduled start. It was Eovaldi’s first outing since May 2nd after he was placed on the 15-day IL with a groin strain.
