Reese Olson terrific in tough-luck no-decision
Reese Olson was terrific again in a tough-luck no-decision against the Yankees on Friday night, scattering two hits and two walks over five scoreless innings.
Advice: The right-hander punched out five batters on the night. While he was able to keep the Yankees’ offense completely at bay, the Tigers were only able to generate one run of support for him, which cost him his victory as Jason Foley imploded in the ninth inning. Olson generated seven whiffs on 88 pitches on the night — four of those on his slider — while registering a CSW of 31 percent. The 24-year-old hurler somehow sits at 0-4 on the season despite a stellar 2.70 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and a 31/13 K/BB ratio over 33 1/3 innings through his first six starts. He’ll attempt once again to get in the win column when he squares off against the Guardians in Cleveland on Wednesday.
