    • Andrew Heaney turns in quality start versus A’s
Andrew Heaney allowed two runs — one earned — over six innings Monday against the A’s.

Advice: Still no wins for Heaney, though the Rangers finally did prevail in one of his starts for the first time this season. Heaney remained 0-4 with a 4.50 ERA in spite of a second straight inspiring effort. He’s still in line to be supplanted if the Rangers get healthier. Expectations were that Max Scherzer would soon take his rotation spot, but the Rangers will likely still have room for him with Nathan Eovaldi and Cody Bradford on the shelf. • Settles for no-decision
Heaney allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits and no walks while striking out five batters over six innings in a no-decision against Oakland on Monday.

Advice: Heaney notched his second straight quality start, but a strong outing by opposing starter Alex Wood kept him from picking up his first win of the season. Nonetheless, Heaney was impressive in the start, inducing 15 swinging strikes and finishing without issuing a free pass for his third consecutive appearance. The left-hander failed to get through five frames in each of his first three starts of the season but has now done so in each of his subsequent four outings, and he's gone at least six frames in three straight trips to the mound. Heaney's ERA still sits at a mediocre 4.50, but he has a solid 1.11 WHIP along with a 31:9 K:BB through 36 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:50 pm

    • Facing four-week absence
The Guardians expect Kwan to miss approximately four weeks after placing him on the 10-day injured list earlier Monday with an acute left hamstring strain, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Kwan was diagnosed with the acute hamstring strain after undergoing an MRI following his early exit from Saturday's 7-1 win over the Angels. With imaging determining that he sustained more than a mild injury, Kwan will be sidelined well beyond the minimum 10 days, and a more precise return date likely won't come into focus until he reaches the point in his rehab where he's performing baseball activities. The Guardians are likely to turn to Estevan Florial, Ramon Laureano and Gabriel Arias to fill in for Kwan in the corner outfield, while prospect Kyle Manzardo was promoted from Triple-A Columbus on Monday and should take on an everyday role at designated hitter for at least the next few weeks. • Guardians place Steven Kwan on IL
Guardians placed Steven Kwan (hamstring) on the 10-day IL.

Advice: Kwan left Saturday’s game because of tightness in the hamstring, and did not start in Sunday’s finale against the Angels. Kwan has mentioned battling hamstring injuries in theoast, so both he and the Guardians want to be cautious in this instance. Kyle Manzardo was called up from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:26 am

    • Heads to 10-day IL
The Guardians placed Kwan on the 10-day injured list Monday with a left hamstring strain.

Advice: Cleveland hasn't disclosed the grade of Kwan's hamstring strain, which he suffered in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Angels. The injury forced him to miss his second game of the season Sunday, and he'll be sidelined through at least May 14 as a result of landing on the IL. The Guardians called up prospect Kyle Manzardo from Triple-A Columbus to take over Kwan's spot on the 26-man active roster, and Manzardo should also inherit an everyday role while the 26-year-old outfielder is on the shelf. Manzardo will serve as the Guardians' designated hitter in Monday's series opener versus the Tigers and will hit seventh, while Estevan Florial will fill in for Kwan in left field and atop the batting order. • Takes loss against Mariners
Hader (1-3) allowed a solo home run and struck out one to take the loss Sunday against the Mariners.

Advice: Hader entered the game in the ninth inning with the score tied 4-4. He retired the first batter he faced but then served up the go-ahead homer to Cal Raleigh. Hader had turned in three consecutive appearances without giving up an earned run prior to Sunday, though he's now been charged with at least one run in six of his 15 appearances. • Bests Atlanta for fourth win
Paxton (4-0) earned the win over Atlanta on Sunday, allowing one run on five hits and two walks while striking out three over 6.2 innings.

Advice: The only real damage against Paxton came from a solo home run to Marcell Ozuna in the seventh. Paxton put together his most efficient outing of the year, needing only 84 pitches to get 20 outs, as his two walks were his fewest in a start since April 8. Paxton's strikeout numbers remain significantly lower compared to his career numbers, but he's still finding ways to grind out results. He now owns a 3.06 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 18:24 K:BB in 32.1 innings and lines up to face the Padres on the road next weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:30 am

    • Handles Giants for win No. 2
Walker (2-0) earned the win over the Giants on Sunday, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out seven over 6.1 innings.

Advice: The Giants got to Walker in the opening frame with a run, but he was able to silence them the rest of the way until Thairo Estrada crushed a two-run blast in the seventh to make it a 5-3 ballgame and end Walker's night. Walker has now carried strong outings into the seventh in back-to-back starts to open up the season but hasn't quite been able to seal the deal. He has a 3.00 ERA through innings 1-6 and a 67.50 ERA in the seventh frame. His spot in the rotation is secure after the Phillies announced Spencer Turnbull would be operating as a bulk relief option moving forward. Walker owns a 6.39 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 11:3 K:BB in 12.2 innings and lines up to face the Marlins on the road his next time out. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:12 am
    • Tallies three hits in win
Realmuto went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Sunday's win over the Giants.

Advice: Realmuto slid into the No. 2 spot in the order with Trea Turner (hamstring) recently being placed on the injured list. He singled in the third and came home on Bryce Harper's three-run homer and would wind up notching two more base hits before his night was over. Sunday was the first three-hit effort of the season for Realmuto and his seventh multi-hit game. For the year, he's now slashing .259/.315/.431 with five homers, 14 RBI, 18 runs and a 9:34 BB:K in 127 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:03 am
