    • Kutter Crawford strikes out six in loss to Braves
Kutter Crawford allowed two earned runs over six innings while striking out six in the Red Sox loss to the Braves on Tuesday.

Advice: Crawford gave up a two-run bomb to Jarred Kelenic in the third inning and scattered four more hits across six frames. The righty lowered his ERA to 1.75 on the year, and has now struck out six or more batters in six of his eight starts on the year. He’s off to a surprisingly strong start for the Red Sox this season, and will look to keep things going on Monday against the Rays. Rotoworld 32 minutes ago

    • Bryan Bello returning Sunday against Nationals
Bryan Bello (lat) struck out five over 2 2/3 innings on Tuesday in a minor league rehab start for Double-A Portland.

Advice: Bello told reporters following the 52-pitch rehab outing that he’ll start on Sunday against the Nationals at Fenway Park instead of making any additional rehab tune-ups. The 24-year-old righty has been out since late April due to right lat tightness. Rotoworld Today, 4:54 pm

    • Returning Sunday
Bello (lat) said Tuesday that he will start Sunday's game against the Nationals, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Bello made a rehab appearance Tuesday at Double-A Portland, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out five batters across 2.2 innings. Despite his unremarkable performance, the right-hander said he came away from the start without any pain and is ready to return to Boston's rotation. Bello holds a 3.04 ERA and 1.05 WHIP across 26.2 innings so far this year. Rotowire.com Today, 4:25 pm

    • Earns win in first start
Urena (1-2) earned the win Wednesday against Oakland, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Urena was able to minimize the damage through his first two innings before holding the A's to just one baserunner (who reached on an error) over his final three frames. The 32-year-old Urena had allowed four earned runs over 3.2 innings in his previous two appearances out of the bullpen. His ERA sits at 3.86 with a 1.29 WHIP and 18:11 K:BB this season. With Nathan Eovaldi (groin) working his way back from the IL, Urena will likely return to a relief role. Rotowire.com Today, 4:03 pm

    • José Ureña goes five innings for win against A’s
José Ureña was charged with two runs (one earned) over five innings on Tuesday in a win over the Athletics.

Advice: Ureña drew the spot starting assignment for Tuesday afternoon’s matinee out in Oakland and wound up getting 15 runs of support from the Rangers’ offense by the time he left the contest after five frames. He struck out two and also issued a pair of walks. He’ll presumably continue to operate in a swingman-type role for Texas until further notice. Rotoworld Today, 3:49 pm

    • Takes light swings in cage
Gelof (oblique) has progressed to taking light swings in the batting cage, but he remains without a firm timetable for return, MLB.com reports.

Advice: It's been an eventful last few days on the recovery front for Gelof, who resumed some baseball activities by fielding grounders and playing catch Wednesday and then threw across the infield before the Athletics' game Friday. The progression to picking up a bat is another step in the right direction, but the team remains committed to not sending Gelof out on a rehab assignment prematurely due to the risk of aggravating the injury. • Drives in run in return
Ruiz (wrist) went 0-for-2 with an RBI sacrifice fly in a loss to the Rangers on Monday.

Advice: Ruiz returned after a one-game absence due to a wrist injury he suffered Saturday and was able to contribute an RBI for the third consecutive contest. The 25-year-old outfielder has demonstrated a slight uptick in pop during the first month-plus of the season and appears to have moved past the wrist issue, given he drew the start in left field Monday. • Starting Tuesday
Urena will start Tuesday's game against the Athletics, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Urena will make his first start of the 2024 season, though he's given the Rangers length out of the bullpen at times through the first month of the campaign. He most recently worked three frames April 27 vs. Cincinnati and three innings April 18 against Detroit. He'll likely be called upon to eat anywhere from two to four innings Tuesday if all goes according to plan. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:29 pm

    • José Ureña could start Wednesday for Rangers
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters that José Ureña could start one of the doubleheader games for the Rangers on Wednesday.

Advice: Whether Ureña will be able to start one of those games will depend on if they need to use the right-hander out of the bullpen. The right-hander will be facing one of the weaker lineups on paper, but it would be a mistake to trust him as a streaming option based on his lack of success at the highest level in that role over the last couple of years.
