    • Blake Snell (adductor) to throw to hitters Tuesday
Blake Snell (adductor) will face live hitters for three innings Tuesday.

Advice: Snell came away from his bullpen session over the weekend well, and will now progress to facing hitters in as simulated setting. The southpaw could begin a rehab assignment a few days later if that assignment goes the way it’s supposed to. Snell could be back with the Giants by the end of the month. • Not starting Monday
Wisdom is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Wisdom had served as the Cubs' designated hitter in three of the past four games, going 4-for-11 with a home run, a double, two two walks, two RBI, three runs and two stolen bases during that stretch. Christopher Morel will get a day out of the field and will be deployed at DH, but Wisdom could have a hold on a near-everyday role until Seiya Suzuki (oblique) returns from the injured list. • Matt Vierling hitting third for Tigers on Monday
Matt Vierling is starting at 3B and hitting third for the Tigers on Monday against the Guardians.

Advice: Vierling has bounced around the lineup over the last week but never hitting below fifth in the order. With Wenceel Perez still out with an illness, Vierling will get a chance to hit third against right-hander Triston McKenzie. Vierling is off to a strong start this year, slashing .287/.313/.457 with three home runs, 14 runs, and 11 RBI in 99 plate appearances. He’s chasing less out of the strike zone but being more aggressive in the strike zone which has led to increased contact rates. He’s also pulling and lifting the ball more, which has helped him register an 8.2 percent barrel rate. We might not be seeing a full-on breakout, but his success has not been flukey. • Set for live BP Tuesday
Giants manager Bob Melvin said Monday that Snell (thigh) will throw a three-inning live batting practice session Tuesday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Snell was cleared to face hitters after a bullpen session Saturday went off without a hitch. The Giants will wait to see how the lefty responds to Tuesday's session before determining the next steps, but Snell is trending in a positive direction. Snell hasn't pitched in more than two weeks because of a Grade 2 left adductor strain. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:38 am

    • Dansby Swanson goes deep in victory over Brewers
Dansby Swanson walloped his fourth home run of the season on Sunday as the Cubs shut out the Brewers at Wrigley Field.

Advice: Swanson crushed a 399-foot (109.3 mph EV) solo shot off of Thyago Viera in the sixth inning, extending the Cubs’ lead to 4-0. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the afternoon. The 30-year-old infielder has had a rough go at the plate through the first month-plus of the 2024 campaign — slashing .220/.287/.358 to go along with four homers, 12 RBI and four stolen bases. • Back in majors
The Padres recalled Vasquez from Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.

Advice: The right-hander was optioned to El Paso on April 26 after making a couple starts for San Diego, and he'll rejoin the big club Sunday since Joe Musgrove (elbow) landed on the injured list. Vasquez allowed five earned runs with a 5:3 K:BB over 7.2 frames in his two outings and could step into the rotation for Musgrove, who had been scheduled to pitch Tuesday against the Cubs. • Sitting after three straight starts
Alexander is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Alexander had started each of the previous three games at shortstop, going 1-for-9 with one walk. He'll give way to Kevin Newman for the series finale, but the playing time at shortstop will likely tilt in Alexander's direction until Geraldo Perdomo (knee) is ready to return from the injured list. • Padres recall Randy Vasquez from El Paso
Padres recalled RHP Randy Vasquez from Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: Vasquez is taking the roster spot of Joe Musgrove after Musgrove was placed on the injured list with triceps tendonitis, and it’s very possible he’ll take his spot in the rotation. The right-hander had a 5.87 ERA over 7 2/3 innings in his two appearances with San Diego before being demoted, and he’ll be a matchup-dependent streamer for those looking to take a chance in the early portion of the year. • Roberts hopeful for minimum IL stint for Phillips
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Sunday that the team is hopeful that Evan Phillips (hamstring) will only have a minimum stay on the injured list.

Advice: Phillips was diagnosed with a Grade 1 hamstring strain and placed on the injured list before Sunday’s game against Atlanta. The right-hander will miss at least two weeks, but it doesn’t sound like a (relatively) long-term injury for the 29-year-old closer. While Phillips is out, Daniel Hudson and Blake Treinen will be the favorites for save chances, with Hudson the most likely to pitch the ninth in the coming days. Rotoworld Sunday, 11:46 am
