    • Report: J.P. France could be out a while
According to The Athletic’s Chandler Rome, J.P. France is dealing with a shoulder injury that could sideline him for a while.

Advice: Well that’s not good. There hasn’t been an official transaction to put France on the injured list, but that could come soon. The 29-year-old dealt with shoulder issues during spring training, but he was still able to recover in time to make the team’s Opening Day roster. The 29-year-old posted a 7.46 ERA in his first five starts this season before the Astros demoted him to Triple-A Sugar Land. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago

    • Out with shoulder injury
France was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday with a shoulder injury, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The right-hander was demoted to Triple-A on April 25 and surrendered three runs over 3.2 innings during his lone start prior to the injury. France is without an official timeline for his return but could be out "a while," per Rome. The injury won't immediately affect the Astros' rotation but is a big hit to their depth. • Hurls fourth straight quality start
Gibson allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out four batters over six innings in a no-decision against the Mets on Monday.

Advice: Gibson yielded a run in the first inning Monday, but he didn't allow the Mets to score again until they put up two runs against him in the fifth frame. The veteran hurler completed one more scoreless inning after that to record his seventh straight outing of at least six frames to begin the campaign. Gibson's ability to eat up innings didn't correlate with success early in the season -- he gave up 13 runs across his first 19 frames -- but he's turned things around admirably since, posting four consecutive quality starts during which he's allowed just five earned runs across 25 innings. The right-hander has thus lowered his ERA to 3.68 and become at least a semi-viable fantasy target for managers in need of starting pitching despite his tepid 33:16 K:BB across 44 frames. • Notches fifth save
Diaz earned a save against the Cardinals on Monday, striking out one batter in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Diaz blew his first save of the season Sunday against Tampa Bay, but he went right back to work with the Mets holding a one-run ninth-inning lead a day later. The star closer didn't falter this time, retiring all three batters he faced on 11 pitches. The save was Diaz's fifth of the campaign and his first since April 15. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:17 pm

    • Edwin Díaz silences Cardinals to net fifth save
Edwin Díaz hurled a perfect ninth inning on Monday against the Cardinals to collect his fifth save of the season.

Advice: Díaz got the call to protect a narrow one-run margin in the final frame during Monday’s series opener at Busch Stadium and needed just 11 pitches (seven strikes) to slam the door. He struck out Alec Burleson before coaxing ground outs from Brendan Donovan and Masyn Winn to end the contest. He’s converted five of his six save chances this season to go along with a 2.45 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and sparkling 22/4 K/BB ratio across 14 2/3 innings (14 appearances) this season. • Kyle Gibson surrenders three runs in no-decision
Kyle Gibson was charged with three runs (two earned) over six innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Mets.

Advice: Gibson took the ball for Monday’s series opener against the Mets and pitched reasonably well, allowing two earned runs or fewer for the fourth consecutive outing since April 19. He notched four strikeouts and only handed out a pair of free passes in this one. He’ll carry a serviceable 3.68 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 33/16 K/BB ratio across 44 innings (seven starts) into a road tilt on Saturday against the Brewers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:46 pm

    • Goes deep, swipes bag
Morel went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer, a walk and a steal in Monday's loss to the Padres.

Advice: Morel put the Cubs on the board with his two-run shot in the sixth inning after snagging a steal earlier in the contest. He has five hits over his last five games and four of them have left the yard. The 24-year-old is slashing .220/.315/.449 with 12 extra-base hits (eight home runs), four stolen bases and 23 RBI through 35 games this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:36 pm

    • Nick Castellanos finally collects first double
Nick Castellanos doubled, singled and walked twice versus the Giants on Monday.

Advice: Each time it looks like Castellanos might be turning the corner, he’s gone right back to slumping the next day. Still, this rates as his best game so far this season. The double was hit 389 feet and would have been a homer in nine ballparks. Incredibly, it was the first two-bagger of the year for a guy who once had 58 of them. He finished with 37 last season. • Tommy Edman (wrist) moved to 60-day IL
Cardinals transferred Tommy Edman from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: Edman now won’t be eligible to return for the Cardinals until the end of May as he recovers from his wrist injury. Chris Raycroft was selected from Triple-A Memphis with the added roster room. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:14 pm
