    • Duran has two hits, robs home run in win Saturday
Jarren Duran went 2-for-4 with a run scored against the Reds on Saturday.

Advice: Duran won this game for Boston. He singled in the eighth inning and came around to score the go-ahead run. Then in a one-run game in the ninth inning, Duran robbed what would’ve been a home run off the bat of Stuart Fairchild. Duran is hitting .283 with an .826 OPS on the season. Rotoworld Today, 4:32 pm

    • Sitting Sunday, MRI Monday
Marte (knee) won't play in Sunday's game against the Cubs and will receive an MRI on Monday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Advice: Marte was removed from Saturday's game with right knee soreness, an issue that's lingered throughout June. The Mets will give Marte a day to rest before undergoing imaging on Monday's team day off to see if there's any structural damage. Rotowire.com Today, 2:06 pm

    • Not starting Saturday
Paredes is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Paredes will get a rest Saturday after going 1-for-5 with two strikeouts in Friday's 10-3 win over Pittsburgh. Amed Rosario will start at third base and bat fifth against Pirates right-hander Jared Jones. Rotowire.com Today, 12:51 pm

    • Exits game with right knee injury
Marte left Saturday's game against the Cubs due to a sore right knee, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

Advice: Marte left after the first inning of Friday's game and was replaced by Tyrone Taylor in center field. It's the same knee that has been sore for Marte over the last few weeks, and the Mets should provide some clarity on the severity of the injury following Saturday's game. Rotowire.com Today, 12:19 pm

    • Starling Marte leaves game with knee soreness
Starling Marte was removed from Saturday’s game against the Cubs with right knee soreness.

Advice: MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo adds that Marte has been battling a right knee issue for the past couple weeks. There should be an update on his status at some point in the near future, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see him get a few days off moving forward in an effort to hopefully put the ongoing issue to bed. • Willson Contreras (forearm) could return on Monday
The Athletic’s Katie Woo reports Willson Contreras (forearm) could return as early as Monday’s series opener against the Braves.

Advice: Contreras is slated to get into a pair of rehab contests this weekend for Triple-A Memphis with the aim of returning early next week. The 32-year-old backstop has been on the shelf since undergoing surgery back in early May to repair a fractured left forearm. Barring something unexpected, he should return early next week, which would be a significant development for the Cardinals, and fantasy managers as well. Rotoworld Today, 10:10 am

    • Max Scherzer to make season debut on Sunday
Max Scherzer (back, thumb) will make his season debut on Sunday against the Royals.

Advice: The declaration comes directly from Scherzer, so we’re going to take his word for it. We’re still not sure why the decision was made to bump him back an extra day, but it doesn’t have significant fantasy ramifications. The 39-year-old veteran right-hander will make his season debut later this weekend after missing the first couple months of the year recovering from offseason back surgery and a thumb issue that cropped up during his rehabilitation process. He’s no longer an upper-echelon fantasy contributor, but he’s still capable of making an impact, when healthy, especially in deeper mixed leagues. Rotoworld Today, 9:38 am

    • Set for season debut Sunday
Scherzer (back/thumb) said Saturday that he'll return from the 60-day injured list to start in Sunday's series finale against the Royals, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: After completing his recovery from offseason back surgery in addition to moving past the thumb and forearm injuries that slowed down his rehab process, Scherzer was originally scheduled to make his 2024 debut Saturday. The Rangers ultimately elected to push Scherzer back another day, with manager Bruce Bochy opting to go with Jon Gray for the second game of the series. With Scherzer set to take the mound Sunday, Dane Dunning will be pushed back to start in Monday's series opener against the Brewers. After being acquired from the Mets ahead of the trade deadline last season, Scherzer went 4-2 over eight regular-season starts with the Rangers, posting a 3.20 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 53:15 K:BB in 45 innings. • Cristopher Sánchez signs four-year extension
Phillies signed LHP Cristopher Sánchez to a four-year contract extension with club options for 2029 and 2030.

Advice: The long-term extension, which was first reported earlier on Saturday by the New York Post’s Jon Heyman, is now official. The deal essentially buys out Sanchez’s remaining arbitration-eligible seasons with club options for his first two free agent years. No word yet on the exact financial terms. It wasn’t looking good for Philadelphia a couple years ago when Curtis Mead blossomed into one of the most promising prospects in baseball after being shipped to Tampa Bay for Sánchez. However, the pendulum has swung back the other way with Mead struggling in the majors and Sánchez turning into a reliable mid-rotation stabilizer. This extension feels like a solid decision that works for both parties. Rotoworld Today, 9:02 am
