    • Two straight starts
Meyers went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI on Wednesday against the Yankees.

Advice: Meyers had emerged as one of the primary playing-time losers as a result of Joey Loperfido's promotion. However, Loperfido has sat in each of Houston's last two games, and Meyers has delivered on the opportunity to start those contests by going a combined 3-for-8. Meyers is still likely to lose out in the long term, but the Astros may continue to give him run as Lopefido finds his footing in the big leagues. Rotowire.com Today, 8:44 am
    • Productive in loss
Blackmon went 2-for-4 with two RBI, two runs scored and a walk Wednesday against the Giants.

Advice: Blackmon delivered a pair of separate RBI knocks to snap a skid of 15 starts without collecting multiple hits. He's struggled to just a .616 OPS across 112 plate appearances to begin the season, though both his barrel and hard-hit rate remain in line with his more productive recent campaigns. If those skills stick, Blackmon should start to see better results, particularly at home. Rotowire.com Today, 8:38 am
    • Raking at Double-A
Hassell was named the Eastern League Player of the Week on Monday, Jessica Camerato of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 22-year-old outfielder has been on a heater longer than just one week, however. Hassell has nine multi-hit performances in the last 14 games for Double-A Harrisburg, slashing .434/.508/.585 over that stretch with two homers, nine steals in 10 attempts and a 7:12 BB:K. The improvement in his plate discipline is especially noteworthy -- in 106 games for Harrisburg last season he had a 31.9 percent strikeout rate, a number he's cut down to 19.3 percent through 24 contests in 2024. A promotion to Triple-A for Hassell should be coming shortly, but the Nationals might be waiting to bump James Wood up to the majors to open up a starting job in the outfield at Rochester. • Angels acquire Luis Guillorme from Braves
Angels acquired INF Luis Guillorme from the Braves in exchange for a player to be named later.

Advice: The trade is now official, but still no word what the Braves are getting in return. The trade comes as the Angels transferred Anthony Rendon to the 60-day injured list, so it appears Guillorme will get some run at the hot corner for Los Angeles. Rotoworld Today, 8:27 am

    • Nationals outright Matt Barnes to Triple-A
Nationals outright RHP Matt Barnes to Triple-A Rochester.

Advice: Barnes cleared waivers and he’ll stay within the Nationals organization at the Triple-A level. The 33-year-old has posted a 6.75 ERA, 1.50 WHIP with a 10/4 K/BB ratio across 13 1/3 innings this season with Washington. Rotoworld Today, 8:24 am
    • Encouraging MRI results
Rodriguez is close to being able to begin a throwing program after an MRI on Wednesday showing healing in his left shoulder, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: Rodriguez has been sidelined all season and had to be shut down from throwing in mid-April after he felt renewed tightness in his shoulder. However, it appears the recent period of rest did him some good and he's almost ready to ramp things back up again. The left-hander is still likely at least a month or so away from being able to join the Diamondbacks' rotation. Rotowire.com Today, 8:21 am
    • Starts up rehab assignment
Tarnok (hip) struck out one batter and allowed one hit over a scoreless inning in his first rehab start Wednesday with Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: Tarnok tossed only 10 pitches before his day came to an end, but the light workload could have been part of a pre-planned arrangement as the right-hander slowly ramps his way back up from right hip surgery, which he underwent in late August. The 25-year-old resides on the Athletics' 60-day injured list and won't be eligible for activation until late May, so he'll have plenty of time to build up his innings and pitch counts as he stretches back out for a starting role. Tarnok has two minor-league options remaining, so he could end up sticking around with Las Vegas if Oakland doesn't have an opening for him in the rotation once his 30-day rehab window closes. • Eduardo Rodriguez ‘close’ to throwing program
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Eduardo Rodgriguez (lat) is close to beginning a throwing program.

Advice: Good news for the 31-year-old hurler. Lovullo also added that an MRI on Rodriguez’s lat is healing, but he’s still likely a month or so away from making his season debut. Rotoworld Today, 8:18 am
    • Kicks off rehab assignment
Smith (shoulder) began a rehab assignment Wednesday with Triple-A Syracuse, giving up one run on one hit over an inning of relief.

Advice: Smith served up a solo home run but otherwise navigated a 13-pitch eighth inning without much difficulty. The right-hander has been on the 15-day injured list since April 27 with shoulder inflammation and could need another rehab appearance or two before rejoining the Mets bullpen.
