      Lorenzen (2-2) took the loss in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the A's, surrendering six runs on nine hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: Seven of the nine hits off Lorenzen went for extra bases, including homers by Shea Langeliers and Brett Harris. The right-hander has had a bumpy beginning to his Rangers tenure, but he's least providing some length and has worked exactly six innings in four straight outings. Lorenzen will take a 4.66 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 23:14 K:BB through 29 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Guardians.     • Fans 10 for fourth win
      Paddack (4-1) earned the win over the Mariners on Wednesday, allowing one run on eight hits and one walk while striking out 10 over 5.1 innings.

      Advice: Paddack did a great job of mixing in off-speed pitches with his four-seamer early, which led to him striking out eight of the first 14 batters he faced. He would eventually surrender a solo home run to Mitch Garver in the fourth and actually allowed the leadoff man to reach in the fifth and sixth innings, but the right-hander was able to work his way through it and earn his fourth consecutive win. Paddack also matched his season high with 10 strikeouts in the contest and currently holds a 0.70 ERA in May to go along with a 16:2 K:BB.       Pivetta (1-2) took the loss Wednesday against Atlanta, allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out one over four innings.

      Advice: Pivetta got off to a rough start, allowing back-to-back home runs with two outs in the first inning to put the Red Sox in an early 4-0 hole. The right-hander would allow another long ball in the third, the second homer from Marcell Ozuna on the night, and would only make it through four frames while surrendering a season-high five runs. The seven hits and three home runs allowed also marked season highs for the veteran. He'll look to get back on track next week when Boson takes on the Rays at home.       Kopech registered a save against the Rays on Wednesday, allowing one hit in one scoreless inning.

      Advice: Kopech had a relatively easy time closing things out with a three-run lead Wednesday -- though he gave up a one-out infield single, the right-hander got the next batter to ground into a game-ending double play. It was the third save of the season for Kopech, though his most recent save prior to Wednesday came all the way back on April 9. Four different pitchers have notched a save for the White Sox this season, but Kopech appears to be the team's primary closer, as he's the only one among the four with multiple save conversions.       Flexen (2-3) earned the victory against Tampa Bay on Wednesday, allowing one run on three hits and one walk while striking out eight batters over six innings.

      Advice: Flexen isn't usually much of a strikeout pitcher, but he fanned eight Rays in the win, doubling his previous season-high mark. In addition, the right-hander notched his second quality start of the campaign and extended his streak of outings with two or fewer runs to five. After giving up 13 earned runs over his first 13.1 frames this season, Flexen has turned things around dramatically, posting a 1.61 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 18:7 K:BB over 22.1 innings across his subsequent five appearances.       Webb earned an extra-innings save against the Nationals on Wednesday, allowing an unearned run on one hit while striking out one batter over one inning.

      Advice: Usual Baltimore closer Craig Kimbrel was unsteady again Wednesday, as he was pulled with two outs in the ninth inning after giving up a solo homer and a walk. The game ultimately went into extra frames, and Webb was called upon to shut Washington down after the Orioles took a two-run lead in the top of the 12th. Luis Garcia opened the inning for Washington by doubling home the automatic runner, but Webb was able to bounce back by retiring the next three batters to earn a save. Kimbrel's hold on the closer role could be starting to slip given that he's given up six earned runs over his past five outings covering 2.1 frames, but if he does end up getting demoted at some point, Yennier Cano would likely be the favorite to take over the closer role, so Webb doesn't figure to see more than an occasional unpredictable save chance.     • Peter Lambert hit for seven runs in loss to Giants
      Peter Lambert allowed seven runs over three innings in a loss to the Giants on Wednesday.

      Advice: Lambert’s outing lasted just three innings as he was hit for seven runs. Six of those runs came in the second, starting with a solo homer by Michael Conforto to lead off the frame. The Giants would bat around the order before Lambert could escape the inning. Two hits in the third would bring in a seventh run.       Hudson earned the save Wednesday against Miami, striking out one over a perfect inning.

      Advice: Hudson got the first chance at ninth-inning duties after Evan Phillips (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day IL on Sunday and was perfect for his second save of the campaign. Until Phillips returns, the closing job should be Hudson's to lose, though he could have a shorter leash considering he's blown two of his other three save chances this season.       Jacob Webb nailed down his second save of the season on Wednesday night, allowing just an unearned run to score in the 12th inning against the Nationals.

      Advice: In a wild back-and-forth affair, Webb was the one who finally calmed things down and put an end to it in the 12th. He allowed a leadoff double to Luis Garcia Jr. that played the inherited runner, then retired the next three hitters in succession to end it. On the season, Webb now holds a 1.65 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and a 20/5 K/BB ratio over 16 1/3 innings.
