• Wins in scoreless outing
Leclerc (2-2) earned the win Friday, striking out two over a scoreless eighth inning against Cincinnati.

Advice: Leclerc, who earlier this season lost the closer's job, has reclaimed the confidence of manager Bruce Bochy. Friday's outing was his fifth consecutive scoreless appearance with the last three coming in the eighth inning of games. Rotowire.com 24 minutes ago
  • Makes debut with White Sox
Pham went 2-for-5 with a run scored Friday against the Rays.

Advice: Pham made his debut with the White Sox on Friday and hit second with righty Zach Eflin on the mound. Chicago has used a rotation in its outfield to begin the season, though Pham should play nearly every day in center field while providing well-rounded production at the dish. • Nabs first 2024 steal
Gordon went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Nationals.

Advice: The 28-year-old continues to hold down a strong-side platoon role in left field, but Gordon's done little to earn it. The steal was his first of the season, and through 61 plate appearances he's slashing just .211/.246/.404 with three homers, five runs and 12 RBI. The Marlins have the worst record in the NL at 6-21, and it may not be long before struggling veterans with limited upside like Gordon get shoved aside in favor of prospects like Victor Mesa. • Charged with third blown save
Nardi gave up a hit and a walk in a scoreless inning Friday while striking out one, but he was charged with his third blown save of the season after allowing an inherited runner to score.

Advice: Kyle Tyler began the sixth inning but got the hook after giving up a leadoff single to Jacob Young, and Nardi wasn't able to prevent Young from coming around to score and tie the game at 1-1. Nardi hasn't been tagged with a run of his own in six straight appearances, and while he's struck out 10 batters in 5.1 innings over that stretch, he's also issued three free passes and hit a batter with a pitch. He's whittled his ratios down to a 7.71 ERA and 1.89 WHIP in the process, but the 25-year-old southpaw is still struggling to regain the form he flashed in 2023. Rotowire.com 36 minutes ago

  • Returns to shortstop
Seager started at shortstop and went 1-for-4 in Friday's 2-1 win over the Reds.

Advice: Seager, who was removed from a game Wednesday after getting hit by a pitch on the shin, has played in both games since. He served as the DH on Thursday before returning to the field Friday. Rotowire.com 38 minutes ago

  • Sharp in spot start
Maldonado came away with a no-decision in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Nationals, allowing three hits over three scoreless innings. He struck out two without walking a batter.

Advice: Promoted from Triple-A Jacksonville earlier in the day for his big-league debut, Maldonado was expected to work only as an opener while Kyle Tyler handled bulk relief duties. Instead, Maldonado gave Miami an efficient 36 pitches (23 strikes) and left the mound with his team ahead 1-0. The 26-year-old righty has been deployed almost exclusively as a reliever in the minors -- his two other starts as a professional came back in 2021 at Rookie ball -- but this performance might encourage the Marlins to give him another turn in the rotation and try stretching him out a bit more considering their lack of healthy alternatives. • Chris Sale shuts down Guardians in notching win
Chris Sale held the Guardians to one run and two hits in seven innings Friday in the Braves’ 6-2 victory.

Advice: Sale gave up a leadoff homer to Steven Kwan in the first and pretty much nothing else. The other hit was a single, and he walked just one. He’s 3-1 with a 3.69 ERA in five starts, all of which have come on at least five days’ rest. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:03 pm

  • Logan Allen gives up four runs in loss to Braves
Logan Allen surrendered four runs in 4 2/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Braves.

Advice: It’s the third time in six starts that Allen has given up four runs, though this is the first time he’s taken a loss, leaving him 3-1 with a 5.46 ERA. It’s perfectly understandable to give up four runs to the Braves, but Allen’s stuff is definitely a little worse this year than it was as a rookie. He just doesn’t seem like a great bet at this point. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:03 pm
  • Anthony Maldonado fires three scoreless as opener
Anthony Maldonado was terrific in his big league debut against the Nationals on Friday, allowing just three hits over three scoreless innings in a no-decision.

Advice: The 26-year-old right-hander struck out two batters on the night and didn’t issue a base on balls. Filling in for the injured Jesús Luzardo, Maldonado got seven swings and misses on just 36 pitches in the game — six of those on his slider — while posting a strong CSW of 33 percent. It’s likely that he’ll head back to Triple-A Jacksonville after this start, as the Marlins will want to add another fresh arm to the bullpen while charting a course of action for Luzardo’s rotation spot.
