• Brewers option Jared Koenig back to Triple-A
Brewers optioned LHP Jared Koenig to Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: Koenig has done a terrific job in his limited action with the Brewers this season, picking up a pair of victories and posting a 1.04 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and a 4/2 K/BB ratio over 8 2/3 innings in his five appearances. He worked two innings in Friday’s victory over the Yankees though and wasn’t going to be available for a few days, and with the need for a fresh arm in the bullpen he became an unfortunate roster casualty. It shouldn’t take long for Koenig to earn another shot with the Brewers. Rotoworld Today, 2:25 pm

  • Brewers recall Janson Junk from Triple-A
Brewers recalled RHP Janson Junk from Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: The right-hander will provide length out of the Brewers’ bullpen, or could wind up filling in the rotation spot vacated by the injured Wade Miley (elbow) depending on how the club chooses to utilize him. The 28-year-old hurler posted a 4.70 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and a 12/8 K/BB ratio over 15 1/3 innings through his first four appearances (three starts) at Triple-A Nashville. Rotoworld Today, 2:23 pm

  • Recalled from Triple-A
The Brewers recalled Junk from Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.

Advice: With the Brewers down another starting pitcher following the news that Wade Miley (elbow) will need to undergo Tommy John surgery, Junk will come up from the minors to presumably fill the open spot in Milwaukee's rotation. His time in the majors will likely be brief, as Jakob Junis (shoulder/head) and DL Hall (knee) are both projected to return from the injured list within the next couple of weeks. Jared Koenig was optioned to Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Today, 2:14 pm

  • Optioned to Nashville
The Brewers optioned Koenig to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.

Advice: Koenig has been solid during his time in the majors, allowing just one earned run across 8.2 innings while striking out four batters and walking two. Despite his performance, the 30-year-old southpaw return to the minors to make room for Janson Junk, who was recalled from Nashville in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Today, 2:07 pm

  • Framber Valdez to go 70-75 pitches on Sunday
Astros’ manager Joe Espada told reporters on Saturday that Framber Valdez is expected to throw around 70-75 pitches in Sunday’s start against the Rockies.

Advice: It’s no surprise that Valdez would be a bit limited in his first start back from the injured list, so fantasy managers need to be aware that he may not stick around long enough to earn a victory. That — and the high run-scoring environment in Mexico City — may mean it’s best to leave Valdez on the bench before inserting him back into lineups for next week. Rotoworld Today, 1:57 pm
  • Rehab start Thursday
Pivetta (elbow) is pencilled in to make a rehab start Thursday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: He threw 50 pitches in a live batting practice session Saturday, so Pivetta may only need one rehab outing before rejoining the big-league rotation. If he does return after Thursday's rehab start, Pivetta would line up to start in the two-game series in Atlanta on either May 8 or May 9. Rotowire.com Today, 1:01 pm

  • Rehab assignment approaching
Manager Craig Counsell said Saturday that Steele (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Counsell didn't say how many starts the Cubs want Steele to make in the minors, but the 28-year-old southpaw is likely in for multiple rehab outings after sitting out roughly a month due to a strained left hamstring. Assuming his assignment goes smoothly, Steele will likely return to Chicago's rotation toward the middle of May. Rotowire.com Today, 12:17 pm

  • Moves to 60-day IL
The Dodgers transferred Hurt (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Saturday.

Advice: Hurt has been on the injured list since April 20 due to right shoulder inflammation, and his move to the 60-day IL ensures he will be out until at least mid-June. Nabil Crismatt was selected from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take Hurt's place on the 40-man roster. Rotowire.com Today, 11:57 am

  • Justin Steele set to make rehab start this week
Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters Saturday that Justin Steele (hamstring) will make a minor league rehab start this week.

Advice: Steele continues to progress towards rejoining Chicago’s starting rotation after landing on the injured list back in late March with a left hamstring strain. The 28-year-old southpaw should be ready to return in early-to-mid May. Rotoworld Today, 11:55 am
