After a slow start to the campaign, he has started to turn things around, going 8-for-24 with three home runs, five RBI and four runs scored across his last six games.       Advice: Arraez was ever himself, lacing four singles for his fourth four-hit night with San Diego since joining the team May 4. Overall, it is the 27-year-old's fifth four-hit game of the season, as he had one in Miami too. He also managed to collect his ninth and 10th RBI as a Padre with a two-run RBI knock in the eighth inning.       Cease did not factor into the decision in Friday's 11-8 win over the Royals, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out five.

      Advice: Despite generating 16 whiffs out of his 98 total pitches, Cease managed to strike out only five, tying a season low also reached May 20 against Atlanta and April 27 against Philadelphia. The Padres ace was cruising through five innings, allowing just two baserunners; however, he unraveled in a 25-pitch sixth inning, allowing four baserunners and departing with just one out.       Luis Arraez finished 4-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored as the Padres topped the Royals 11-8 on Friday.

      Advice: The Padres had just two extra-base hits, both of which were doubles, and two walks tonight, but they collected 16 singles and went an incredible 11-for-18 with RISP.       Advice: Cease was pretty great to begin the year, posting a 2.19 ERA in his first eight starts, but this makes four straight outings that have missed the quality-start threshold. The 30-year-old right-hander has held opponents to two runs or fewer in each of his last four outings. Nola's ERA now sits at 3.03 on the year with a 1.03 WHIP and 71:22 K:BB across 12 starts (77.1 innings).     • Aaron Nola defeats Cardinals to improve to 7-2
      Aaron Nola picked up his seventh victory of the season on Friday night, limiting the Cardinals to two runs on three hits over his 6 1/3 innings of work.

      Advice: The 30-year-old right-hander racked up six strikeouts on the evening while issuing two free passes. Both of the runs against him came on solo home runs — one by Brandon Crawford in the third inning and another off the bat of Nolan Arenado in the seventh. Nola generated 10 swings and misses on 96 pitches on the night — six of those on his knuckle curve — while registering a CSW of 30 percent.
