    • Max Scherzer (thumb) throws simulated game Tuesday
Max Scherzer (thumb) threw a two-inning simulated game on Tuesday at Globe Life Field.

Advice: Scherzer, who has been dealing with a thumb issue during his rehabilitation process from offseason back surgery, threw roughly 40 pitches in his latest throwing session. The 39-year-old righty told reporters afterwards that he hopes to head out soon on another minor league rehab assignment. There isn’t a definitive timetable for his return, but it’s not unrealistic to think he could return prior to the All-Star break. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago

    • Throws live batting practice
Scherzer (back/arm) threw a 40-pitch live batting practice session Tuesday, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.

Advice: It's the first time he's faced hitters since he had to be pulled off a rehab assignment in early May following a nerve problem with his throwing arm. Scherzer -- who initially went on the injured list as he recovered from offseason back surgery -- said after Tuesday's session that he's hoping his next step will be to make a rehab start. There remains no timetable for the 38-year-old return to the Rangers' rotation, but things are trending up. Rotowire.com 21 minutes ago

    • Officially activated from IL
The White Sox activated Robert (hip) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: Robert wound up missing more than two months of action with a Grade 2 right hip flexor strain. The center fielder went just 3-for-27 during eight rehab games, although two of those hits were home runs. Robert is not expected to be an everyday player right out of the chute upon his activation, as he will have some extra off days mixed in as he eases back into things. He is, however, in Tuesday's lineup versus the Cubs, batting third and playing center field. Rotowire.com Today, 12:42 pm

    • Luis Robert Jr. (hip) officially activated off IL
White Sox activated OF Luis Robert Jr. off the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Robert Jr. is officially back to handle center field for the White Sox after missing close to two months with his hip injury. The 26-year-old may have some rust to shake off, but fantasy managers are well aware of what Robert Jr. is capable of at his best. He’ll take the place of Tommy Pham, with Pham on the injured list with an ankle sprain. Rotoworld Today, 12:35 pm

    • Luis Robert Jr. (hip) returning to lineup Tuesday
The White Sox will activate Luis Robert Jr. off the 10-day injured list to start Tuesday against the Cubs.

Advice: Robert Jr. went just 3-for-27 in his rehab games, but the most important thing is that the 26-year-old came out of those contests healthy. He’ll offer potential help in all five categories — even with the White Sox lineup not offering a ton of run-producing chances — and should be activated immediately by fantasy managers. • Returning from IL on Tuesday
Robert (hip) will be activated from the 10-day injured list and return to the White Sox lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Cubs, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Robert has been sidelined since early April with a Grade 2 right hip flexor strain but is ready to roll after he went 3-for-27 with two home runs over eight rehab games. While Robert is in the lineup Tuesday, manager Pedro Grifol has previously noted that his center fielder will be given extra off days initially as he eases back into action. • Luis Arraez (shoulder) doesn’t play against Angels
Luis Arraez, day-to-day with a shoulder injury, was quite obviously not available as a pinch-hitter Monday in a 2-1 loss to the Angels.

Advice: Padres manager Mike Shildt indicated before the game that Arraez might be available off the bench tonight but then held him out while using David Peralta and Tyler Wade as pinch-hitters in the seventh and ninth innings, respectively. It could be a sign that the Padres are downplaying their concern with Arraez’s shoulder after he was injured Sunday. We’ll check back in on Tuesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:19 pm

    • Earns ninth save
Hader earned a save against the Cardinals on Monday, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Entering with a 7-4 lead in the ninth inning, Hader needed only 14 pitches to secure his ninth save of the season. Hader has only allowed one run over his past 11 appearances and is now 9-for-10 in save attempts in 2024. He currently owns a 3.54 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 45:10 K:BB in 28 innings. • Hit hard in no-decision
Verlander did not factor into the decision in Monday's 2-1 win over the Cardinals, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts over five innings.

Advice: Verlander got into immediate trouble, allowing solo home runs to Alec Burleson and Nolan Gorman in the first inning. He labored through the next four, surrendering a total of eight hard-hit balls, including another homer by Gorman, and leaving with a 4-2 deficit. Verlander was coming off back-to-back nine-strikeout efforts, but he has now failed to reach six innings in four of his nine starts this season. In those nine games, Verlander has posted a 3.63 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 48:17 K:BB. He tentatively lines up for a road matchup against the Angels on Sunday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:57 pm
