    • Juan Soto swipes two bases as Yankees defeat O’s
Juan Soto singled, walked and stole a pair of bases as the Yankees triumphed over the Orioles on Wednesday evening in Baltimore.

Advice: Soto smacked a one-out single off of Corbin Burnes in the top half of the first inning and swiped second base before being stranded there. He then worked a leadoff walk in the sixth inning, and once again nabbed second before being thrown out trying to steal third. On the season, the 25-year-old superstar is now hitting .325/.439/.575 to go along with eight homers, 25 RBI and four stolen bases. Rotoworld Today, 6:09 pm

    • Takes seat Wednesday
Chourio is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Advice: The rookie will bow out of the lineup for the series finale while Jake Bauers picks up a start in left field alongside Blake Perkins and Sal Frelick. After opening his big-league career by producing hits in 11 of his first 13 games, Chourio has fallen into a massive slump since mid-April. Over his subsequent 14 games, Chourio has gone 6-for-43 (.140) while getting on base at a .196 clip. Rotowire.com Today, 8:51 am

    • Homers again Tuesday
Soto went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Orioles.

Advice: Soto cut the Yankees' deficit to 4-2 in the sixth inning with a 447-foot blast of Dean Kremer, his eighth homer of the year. Soto extended his hitting streak to eight games -- he's gone 10-for-30 with three homers and a 1.099 OPS in that span. The 25-year-old outfielder has gotten off to a stellar start in New York, slashing .325/.432/.588 with 24 RBI, 22 runs scored and two steals through his first 31 games. Rotowire.com Today, 8:08 am

    • Ramping up baseball work
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Tuesday that Robert (hip) is taking batting practice and running at 80 percent, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: The 26-year-old is about halfway through the short end of his initial recovery timeline of 6-to-8 weeks, and he appears to be a bit ahead of schedule. Robert could be ready to rejoin the White Sox in mid-May, but the organization is likely to remain cautious as he ramps up his baseball activities over the next couple weeks. • Goes on paternity leave
The Yankees placed Verdugo (personal) on the paternity list Monday.

Advice: While he leaves the team to celebrate the birth of his child, Verdugo won't be available for Monday's series opener in Baltimore, and he'll most likely remain away for games Tuesday and Wednesday before he would need to be activated ahead of Thursday's series finale versus the Orioles. The Yankees are scheduled to face right-handed starting pitchers for each of their next three games, so left-handed-hitting outfielders Trent Grisham and Taylor Trammell could represent logical replacements in the lineup for Verdugo. • Not in Sunday's lineup
Martinez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: Martinez went 3-for-8 with a double, an RBI and five strikeouts in his first two games with the Mets but will take a seat for Sunday's series finale versus St. Louis. DJ Stewart will step in as the designated hitter and bat cleanup. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:38 am

    • Drives in four runs
Verdugo went 3-for-5 with a home run, four RBI and two runs in Saturday's 15-3 win against the Brewers.

Advice: The Yankees offense came alive Saturday, and Verdugo led the way with a three-run homer in the opening inning. It was the outfielder's second straight game with a homer and his fourth long ball of the campaign. Verdugo started slow over the first couple weeks of the season with a .454 OPS through 10 games, but over the past three weeks he has a .350/.446/.600 slash line with six doubles, three homers and an 11:7 BB:K in 74 plate appearances.
