  • Emerson Hancock allows four ER over four innings
    Emerson Hancock allowed four earned runs over four innings in Tuesday’s win over the Twins.

    Advice: Things got rough for Hancock in the third inning. Entering the frame with a 2-0 lead, Hancock allowed a two-out single to Jose Miranda followed by a walk to Edouard Julien. Trevor Larnach would single to score Miranda, but it was a three-run homer by Ryan Jeffers in the following at-bat that gave that did the most damage. Emerson would pitch a perfect fourth and be pulled in place of Gabe Speier to start the fifth. He didn’t record a strikeout in this one, and will carry a 5.24 ERA into Sunday’s start against the Athletics. Rotoworld 9 minutes ago
     
  • Colin Rea surrenders four runs to Royals
    Colin Rea surrendered four runs in 4 2/3 innings Tuesday versus the Royals.

    Advice: All of the runs came in the fifth, which started off with an MJ Melendez triple to right that probably ought to have been caught by Sal Frelick. Had that turned into the out, Rea likely gets through five scoreless and gets to open the sixth. To be fair, though, the Royals did hit Rea quite hard over the rest of the fifth. Thanks to a late comeback, Rea avoided what would have been his first loss. He remains 3-0 with a 3.29 ERA. Rotoworld 14 minutes ago
     
  • Seth Lugo turns in quality start in no-decision
    Seth Lugo yielded three runs in 6 2/3 innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Brewers.

    Advice: Lugo got just five missed swings tonight, but he wound up with five strikeouts anyway. Back-to-back homers from Rhys Hoskins and Joey Ortiz in the second inning accounted for most of the damage. Lugo will get the Angels on the road next time out. Rotoworld 14 minutes ago

  • Gets bailed out by offense
    Maeda allowed seven runs on five hits across only two innings of work but did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 11-7 win over the Guardians. He walked three and struck out one.

    Advice: Maeda wasn't very good in this one, but he escaped his second loss of the season thanks to a ton of run support. The veteran righty is now sitting with a subpar 6.75 ERA across his first seven starts with the Tigers, though he had only allowed one run over 11 innings in his previous two appearances coming into Tuesday, so there were some signs he was turning things around before this dud. Home runs have been a problem, as the 36-year-old has now allowed nine of them in 30.2 innings. Maeda will look to keep the ball in the park and post a better line in his next scheduled start, which is penciled in for Monday against the Marlins. Rotowire.com 33 minutes ago
     
  • Randy Vásquez strikes out six over 4 1/3 innings
    Randy Vásquez allowed one earned run over 4 1/3 innings while striking out six in the Padres’ loss to the Cubs.

    Advice: Vásquez’s lone blemish of the night came on a solo home run from Cody Bellinger. He would be pulled with one out in the fifth after allowing a single to Miguel Amaya, but managed to lower his ERA to 4.50 on the season and has allowed one earned run in two of his three starts on the year. His six strikeouts marks a new career-high for Vásquez, who will make his next start on Monday against the Rockies. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago
     
  • Imanaga dazzles, strikes out 8 in win over Padres
    Shota Imanaga allowed two earned runs over seven innings while striking out eight in the Cubs’ 3-2 win over the Padres.

    Advice: Imanaga was stellar again on a night where the Cubs only provided him one run on offense. Unfortunately, a disastrous eighth inning, which he entered with 95 pitches alread on the ledger, quickly went awry for the lefty, who gave up a single a two-run homer to Jurickson Profar in the frame to get saddled with the loss. Outside of the disastrous eighth, Imanaga didn’t run into too much trouble in this one, stranding only one runner in scoring position while limiting the Padres to only singles through his first seven innings. He still sits at a perfect 5-0 on the season, but will look to earn his sixth win on Monday against the Braves. Rotoworld 41 minutes ago
     
  • Luis Gil handles Astros in win on Tuesday
    Luis Gil allowed one run on one hit in six innings in a win over the Astros.

    Advice: Gil was effectively wild on Tuesday, which is something we’ve come to expect from the 25-year-old. He walked four on the day and had just a 42 percent zone rate; however, he also had a 23 percent whiff rate and struck out five batters. Much of Gil’s success came on the changeup which had a 40 percent whiff rate, while his four-seam fastball was his most effective strike pitch. At some point, Gil is not going to be able to keep walking this tightrope, but he has a 2.92 ERA on the season and has two solid outings coming up against the Rays and White Sox.   • Kutter Crawford strikes out six in loss to Braves
    Kutter Crawford allowed two earned runs over six innings while striking out six in the Red Sox loss to the Braves on Tuesday.

    Advice: Crawford gave up a two-run bomb to Jarred Kelenic in the third inning and scattered four more hits across six frames. The righty lowered his ERA to 1.75 on the year, and has now struck out six or more batters in six of his eight starts on the year.   • Justin Verlander hit hard in loss to Yankees
    Justin Verlander allowed seven run on eight hits over five innings in a loss to the Yankees on Tuesday.

    Advice: Verlander also walked three, struck out just two, and gave up three home runs on the day. The 41-year-old simply didn’t have it on Tuesday, allowing a three-run homer to light-hitting Alex Verdugo in the first inning. He allowed a run in four of his five innings on the day and posted just an 11 percent whiff rate and 20 percent CSW. His ERA is now 4.43 on the season and he has 16 strikeouts and 10 walks in 22 1/3 innings on the season. It has not been a particularly effective start, but he should have a much easier time against the Athletics next week. Rotoworld 54 minutes ago
