• Three extra-base hits in win
Alvarez went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, two doubles and two total runs scored in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Angels.

Advice: Alvarez is seeing the ball well lately, going 19-for-43 (.442) with four homers, five doubles, 11 RBI and just three strikeouts over his last 11 contests. He's even chipped in a pair of stolen bases in that span. Alvarez is up to 13 homers, 33 RBI, 37 runs scored, 15 doubles and three steals while slashing .296/.369/.514 over 64 contests. His spot in the lineup is virtually never in question, but he's picked up more time in left field recently with Chas McCormick sliding over to right to cover for the absence of Kyle Tucker (lower leg). • Works around four walks in win
Brown (2-5) allowed two hits and four walks while striking out seven over six scoreless innings to earn the win over the Angels on Saturday.

Advice: Brown logged his fourth straight quality start, and he's given up just six runs with a 26:8 K:BB over 24 innings, though this is his only win over that stretch. It continues a positive trend for Brown, who is pitching deeper into games, though his 4.3 BB/9 on the year remains alarmingly high. The right-hander also has a 5.58 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 67:29 K:BB over 61.1 innings through 13 appearances (12 starts). He's tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus the Tigers. • Posts big stat line Saturday
Tovar went 4-for-4 with two home runs and four total RBI in Saturday's 6-5 win against St. Louis.

Advice: Tovar kicked off the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single to left field. That was just the beginning of a massive performance by the young shortstop -- he added a solo homer in the sixth and a tiebreaking two-run shot in the seventh. The four-hit game was Tovar's second of the campaign, and he finished with his second multi-homer performance of the season. Tovar is somewhat quietly enjoying a breakout 2024, slashing .294/.326/.487 with 10 homers, 28 RBI, 34 runs and four stolen bases through 282 plate appearances. Rotowire.com 50 minutes ago
  • Pilfers two bags in loss
Duran went 0-for-3 with two walks and two stolen bases in Saturday's 6-1 loss to the White Sox.

Advice: The 27-year-old did his job as the leadoff man, but the hitters in the three spots behind him in the order went a combined 0-for-11 on the afternoon. Duran came into this series in Chicago having failed to steal a bag in 14 straight games, but he's swiped three in the last two contests to give him 14 on the season. He's also slashing .263/.331/.451 on the year with five homers, 27 RBI and 39 runs in 65 contests. Rotowire.com Today, 6:06 pm

  • Clayton Kershaw tabbed for one more simulated game
Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) is scheduled to throw one more three-inning simulated game before beginning a minor league rehab assignment.

Advice: Kershaw threw a two-inning simulated game at Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Friday without any issue, touching 90 mph during the session. If all goes well with his next simulated game, he would then be cleared to start a minor league rehab assignment. He still looks to be on track for a return around the All-Star break. • Tovar goes deep twice against Cardinals
Ezequiel Tovar went 4-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI against the Cardinals on Saturday.

Advice: The two home runs give Tovar 10 on the season. He hit a solo home run off Kyle Gibson in the sixth inning and a two-run home run that gave the Rockies a 6-4 lead off Andrew Kittredge in the seventh inning. Tovar is up to .294 with a .813 OPS and 28 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Today, 4:50 pm
  • Sharp in return
Gray allowed one hit and one walk while striking out four over 2.1 scoreless innings in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Giants.

Advice: Gray appeared in relief of Andrew Heaney on Saturday in his first appearance since May 21, after he was placed on the IL with a groin strain. The right-hander certainly looked healthy, as he struck out four of the nine batters he faced. Overall, Gray is 2-2 with a 2.12 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 60:18 K:BB across 59.1 innings this year. He's currently scheduled to rejoin the rotation next week on the road versus the Dodgers. Rotowire.com Today, 4:46 pm

  • One more sim game before assignment
Kershaw (shoulder) will throw a three-inning simulated game next week and then start a rehab assignment, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports Saturday.

Advice: Kershaw completed a two-inning sim game Friday -- his second simulated game of June -- and will throw another one next week before being sent off to a rehab assignment. The veteran lefty touched 90 mph Friday and is ahead of schedule in his recovery from November shoulder surgery. Still, Kershaw will likely require a handful of rehab starts before rejoining the big-league roster, making a July return feasible. Rotowire.com Today, 3:27 pm
  • Jordan Romano to resume throwing on Monday
Jordan Romano (elbow) is scheduled to resume throwing on Monday.

Advice: Blue Jays manager John Schneider added that Romano received an anti-inflammatory injection in his right elbow last weekend. It’s going to take a couple weeks for the 31-year-old closer to build up his arm strength before returning to Toronto’s bullpen, but it’s an encouraging sign that he’s been cleared to resume throwing again.
