      Advice: Fantasy managers were expecting a throwback pitcher’s duel in this one, but Skubal got in trouble right away on Wednesday afternoon as Kansas City struck for a pair of runs in the second inning before Nelson Velázquez took him deep for a fourth-inning solo shot. He finished with six strikeouts and only handed out a pair of free passes.       Jhoan Durán picked up his fourth save Wednesday despite giving up a homer in the ninth against the Nationals.

      Advice: The homer from Joey Meneses led off the ninth in a two-run game. The next batter singled, at which point Dave Martinez put in speedy Rule 5 pick Nasim Nuñez to run. Martinez, though, just couldn’t help himself and still gave away an out to have Ildemaro Vargas bunt Nuñez over when Nuñez most likely could have stolen the base on his own.       The Padres placed Bogaerts on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a fractured left shoulder.

      Advice: Bogaerts suffered the injury on an awkward dive Monday in Atlanta. According to Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune, the infielder doesn't appear to be dealing with any damage to his labrum and will avoid surgery, but he'll need significant down time for the shoulder to heal. Bogaerts intends to play again this season, perhaps by the latter part of the summer.     • Holds on for fourth save
      Duran picked up the save in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Nationals despite allowing a run on two hits in the ninth inning. He struck out one.

      Advice: Called upon to protect a two-run lead in the ninth, Duran got off to a rocky start, surrendering a leadoff homer to Joey Meneses followed by a Luis Garcia single. However, following a sac bunt that moved Garcia into scoring position, Duran struck out Joey Gallo before inducing a game-ending groundout from Keibert Ruiz to close out a 3-2 win. While he was able to escape with the save Wednesday, Duran's been shaky recently, allowing homers in three consecutive outings and five runs over 2.2 innings in that span.
