    • Willy Adames doubles three times versus Cards
Willy Adames doubled three times and knocked in two runs Friday versus the Cardinals.

Advice: Not only is Adames exceeding expectations with his .265/.351/.476 line, but his seven steals are just one off his career high. Last year, he was 5-for-8 stealing bases in 149 games. This year, he’s 7-for-8 in 38 games. We wouldn’t expect him to keep that up, but it’s hard not to view him as a top-10 shortstop at this point. Rotoworld Friday, 9:38 pm

    • Laces three doubles
Adames went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's victory over St. Louis.

Advice: Adames managed to collect all three of his doubles off different Cardinals pitchers -- Lance Lynn in the second inning, Matthew Liberatore in the fifth and Kyle Leahy in the seventh. With his effort Friday night, the Brewers shortstop has already reached double digits in the category, sporting 10 doubles on the season. Overall, Adames is slashing .265/.351/.476 with seven home runs, 23 runs scored and 27 RBI over 168 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:00 pm

    • Cubs place Dansby Swanson (knee) on 10-day IL
Cubs placed INF Dansby Swanson on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 8, with a right knee sprain.

Advice: Swanson sat out of Wednesday’s contest due to soreness in his knee, and now he’ll be out for at least an additional week while recovering. Fortunately, the Cubs also got good news on the injury front on Friday with Seiya Suzuki being activated from the injured list in a corresponding move. Expect Nico Hoerner to slide over and cover shortstop while Swanson is shelved, leaving Miles Mastrobuoni to see increased action at second base. Rotoworld Friday, 1:49 pm

    • Placed on 10-day IL
Swanson (knee) was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to May 8, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Swanson missed Wednesday's game against the Padres with knee soreness stemming from an awkward slide that occurred April 25, and the injury has now been deemed a right knee sprain. Nico Hoerner slotted in at shortstop Wednesday while Miles Mastrobuoni got the start at second base -- a lineup that could become the norm while Swanson sits. The shortstop will be eligible to return May 18. Rotowire.com Friday, 1:45 pm

    • Sitting out with sore knee
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Wednesday that Swanson is absent from the lineup versus the Padres due to a right knee issue, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Counsell added that Swanson tweaked the knee on a slide during an April 25 contest against the Astros. He's considered day-to-day. The Cubs have a scheduled off day Thursday, so Swanson will look to return to action Friday in Pittsburgh. Nico Hoerner is sliding over to shortstop Wednesday, while Miles Mastrobuoni is getting a start at second base. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:24 am

    • Plays hero with ninth-inning homer
Adames went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run during Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Royals.

Advice: Adames stepped up to the plate with Gary Sanchez and William Contreras aboard with two outs and the Brewers down 5-3, smacking a laser over the left-field wall for the go-ahead homer. The long ball was Adames' fourth in the last seven games, a stretch in which he's racked up 12 RBI and scored six times. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:24 pm

    • Willy Adames homers in ninth to lead Brewers
Willy Adames hit a three-run homer in the top of the ninth to propel the Brewers to a 6-5 win over the Royals on Tuesday.

Advice: The homer was Adames’s seventh through 35 games and pushed him up to 25 RBI. He’s typically a slow starter, so this early season performance has been particularly encouraging. He’s at .257/.346/.463 right now. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:49 pm

    • Dansby Swanson goes deep in victory over Brewers
Dansby Swanson walloped his fourth home run of the season on Sunday as the Cubs shut out the Brewers at Wrigley Field.

Advice: Swanson crushed a 399-foot (109.3 mph EV) solo shot off of Thyago Viera in the sixth inning, extending the Cubs’ lead to 4-0. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the afternoon. The 30-year-old infielder has had a rough go at the plate through the first month-plus of the 2024 campaign — slashing .220/.287/.358 to go along with four homers, 12 RBI and four stolen bases. • Retreats to bench
Swanson is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mets.

Advice: Swanson will get a chance to rest up for the day game after a night game, with Nico Hoerner moving over from second base to replace him at shortstop. The off day comes while Swanson has gone 3-for-17 with eight strikeouts against one walk over his last five games. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:57 am
