    • Homers and doubles in win
Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, a double, a walk and two runs scored in Sunday's 8-4 win over the Athletics.

Advice: Rodriguez connected for his second home run of the season on a two-run blast off Alex Wood in the second. He later doubled off the top of the wall to begin the fifth and merely just missed another home run. Rodriguez was the only Mariner with multiple extra-base hits in the game and has been seeing the ball much better lately, with the last six batted balls for him all traveling at least 100 mph. The 23-year-old has endured some struggles at the plate this season but is now slashing .255/.310/.323 with 13 RBI, 16 runs, nine steals and an 11:50 BB:K in 174 plate appearances. • Julio Rodríguez crushes two-run homer as M’s roll
Julio Rodríguez crushed a two-run homer on Sunday afternoon, powering the Mariners to an 8-4 victory over the visiting Athletics.

Advice: The 23-year-old outfielder has been off to a painfully slow start at the dish this season, so it was good to see him launch a 409-foot (109.0 mph EV) two-run shot off of Alex Wood in the second inning — increasing the Mariners’ early lead to 5-0. Rodríguez also doubled, walked and scored a pair of runs in the contest, finishing the day 2-for-3. For the season, he’s slashing .255/.310/.323 with two homers, 13 RBI and nine swipes. • Sitting for series finale
Perez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Perez will take a seat for the series finale after he had started in center field in each of the previous four games while going 4-for-17 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and two runs. Matt Vierling will replace Perez in center field. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:36 am

    • Wenceel Perez swipes base in win over Astros
Wenceel Perez doubled, walked, stole a base and scored a run as the Tigers triumphed over the Astros on Saturday evening in Motown.

Advice: Perez drew a walk off of Cristian Javier in the opening inning and swiped second base, but the Tigers couldn’t cash him in from there. He then smacked a double off of Javier in the second and rode home on the first of Kerry Carpenter’s home runs on the night. The 24-year-old outfielder finished the night 1-for-4 and is now hitting .282/.363/.493 with three homers, eight RBI and three stolen bases in his first 23 games of big league action. • Sitting against lefty
Donovan isn't in the Cardinals' lineup for Friday's game against the Brewers, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: Left-hander Robert Gasser will make his MLB debut Friday as Milwaukee's starting pitcher, meaning the left-handed bat of Donovan will begin the game from the Cardinals' dugout. Lars Nootbaar, Mike Siani and Dylan Carlson will start across St. Louis' outfield while Donovan sits. Rotowire.com Friday, 2:23 pm

    • Not starting against Yankees
Rosario is out of the starting lineup for Friday's matchup against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: The 28-year-old infielder has been seeing regular action at second base recently as the Rays remain without Brandon Lowe (oblique), but Rosario will begin the game in the dugout Friday. He currently sports a .301 batting average with two homers, five steals, 11 runs and 15 RBI. Richie Palacios will get the start at second base Friday and bat seventh in the lineup. • Giants finally place Jorge Soler (shoulder) on IL
Giants placed OF Jorge Soler on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 5, with a right shoulder strain.

Advice: The Giants had been taking things day-to-day with their 32-year-old slugger — who has been shelved since last weekend due to soreness in his right shoulder — but on Wednesday they felt it was time to throw in the towel and sit him down rather than playing short-handed any longer. It’s a tough break for fantasy managers in weekly leagues, who may have chanced starting him for that juicy series at Coors Field. Heliot Ramos was recalled in a corresponding move. • Lands on injured list
The Giants placed Soler on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right shoulder strain, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Soler's shoulder has caused him to miss the last three games, and he'll now officially be sidelined for another several days. The move is retroactive to Sunday, so it's possible the 32-year-old slugger is able to return in a week, but the Giants will wait and see how his shoulder heals. Heliot Ramos was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 2:49 pm

    • On base thrice in Tuesday's win
Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with a single, two walks, a stolen base and a run in a win over the Twins on Tuesday.

Advice: Rodriguez deployed the small-ball strategy to great effectiveness Tuesday, pushing his OBP for the season back over the .300 mark (.309) in the process. The steal was Rodriguez's eighth of the season in 10 attempts; however, he's still sitting on just a single home run and five extra-base hits overall in 152 plate appearances after averaging one XBH every 10.1 trips to the batter's box a season ago. Both Rodriguez's barrel (6.4 percent) and hard-hit (30.9 percent) rates have taken notable dips from their respective 11.9 percent and 38.87 percent figures in 2023, partly explaining the power drought.
