      Verlander (2-1) earned the win after he pitched seven scoreless innings, giving up two hits and two walks while striking out eight batters in Sunday's 9-3 victory over the Tigers.

      Advice: Verlander was back to regular sharp self Sunday, limiting Detroit to just four baserunners while recording a season-high eight punchouts. The 41-year-old was coming off of allowing seven runs over five innings against the Yankees on Tuesday, rebounding with his third quality start over five outings in 2024.       Justin Verlander blanked the Tigers for seven innings and struck out eight in the Astros’ 9-3 victory Sunday.

      Advice: Despite never throwing a pitch over 95 mph, Verlander induced eight pop outs and allowed just two hard-hit balls in a masterclass today.     • Dean Kremer strikes out 10 in loss
      Dean Kremer allowed six runs (three earned) on four hits in 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

      Advice: Kremer was hurt by two separate errors, including one by Roman Urias on a potential inning-ending double play ball in the fifth inning with Arizona up just 1-0. With two outs in the sixth inning, he also allowed a home run to Jake McCarthy and then a walk to Kevin Newman, who came around to score against the Orioles bullpen. All told, it was a much better performance by Kremer than the statline indicates and his 28 percent whiff rate and 33 percent CSW were pretty strong on the day.       Logan Allen scattered six hits over six innings and combined with three relievers on the Guardians’ 7-0 shutout of the White Sox on Sunday.

      Advice: Allen struck out three and walked one. Most likely, he would have given up a few runs if he had faced a major league offense today, but he’ll take it; he had surrendered 13 earned runs over 12 2/3 innings in going 0-2 in his previous three starts.       Tyler Glasnow will not start Wednesday’s game against the Giants.

      Advice: Yoshinobu Yamamoto will get the ball Monday with Gavin Stone on Tuesday, but the Dodgers will either go with a bullpen game or make a roster move prior to Wednesday’s game rather than have Glasnow start.       Paxton (5-0) earned the win over the Padres on Saturday, pitching six shutout innings while allowing four hits and striking out four.

      Advice: Paxton never found himself in any serious trouble throughout the contest, allowing only one extra-base hit as the Dodgers cruised to a shutout win. The veteran lefty threw 15 of 22 first pitches for strikes and produced 10 whiffs on the night en route to earning his fifth win of the campaign. Paxton has allowed one run or fewer in back-to-back starts and in four of his seven outings this season. Saturday also marked his first start this season in which he didn't issue a walk.       James Paxton fired six shutout innings on Saturday in a win over the Padres.

      Advice: Paxton continues to excel in his Los Angeles debut, reeling off six scoreless frames to stun the division-rival Padres at Petco Park. He finished with four strikeouts, didn’t hand out a free pass, and allowed just six batted balls with an exit velocity in excess of 95 mph. The 35-year-old veteran southpaw has managed to stay healthy so far, and has been an impact fantasy contributor, despite a steep decline in strikeout percentage. He’s overdue for some regression in the run-prevention department, but he’s been effective so far. He’ll bring a sparkling 2.58 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 22/24 K/BB ratio across 38 1/3 innings (seven starts) into a home outing on Thursday against the Reds. Rotoworld Today, 4:05 am

      Means escaped with a no-decision in Saturday's 5-4 extra-innings win over the Diamondbacks, giving up four runs on six hits over 4.2 innings. He struck out three without walking a batter.

      Advice: The southpaw got tagged for two runs in the third and fifth innings, but the Orioles scored in the eighth to tie up the game and take Means off the hook for his first loss before eventually walking it off in the 11th. He tossed 60 of 89 pitches for strikes, and he has a 3.09 ERA and 11:0 K:BB through his first 11.2 innings on the year.       Advice: Means was outstanding Saturday against the Reds. This outing would best be described as shaky at best. The left-hander gave up six hits, and he struck out three while not issuing a walk. The 31-year-old gave up a two-run homer to Ketel Marte in the third, and two more were charged to him after he exited with one out in the fifth.
