    • James McArthur closes out Angels to nab ninth save
James McArthur served up a solo homer in the ninth inning on Sunday, but managed to escape with a two-run lead intact to secure his ninth save of the season.

Advice: The 27-year-old right-hander allowed a one-out solo shot to Willie Calhoun but retired each of the other three hitters that he faced — needing just 11 pitches total (eight strikes) to navigate the ninth inning. On the season, he now holds a 4.42 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and an 18/3 K/BB ratio across 18 1/3 innings while converting nine of his first 12 save chances. Despite some recent struggles, Royals’ skipper Matt Quatraro seems committed to keeping McArthur in the closer’s role, which means he’ll continue to have mixed league fantasy value. • Adley Rutschman homers in loss to Arizona
Adley Rutschman went 1-for-4 with a home run in a loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Rutschman took a Zac Gallen offering and hit it 363 feet at 105.5 mph for his sixth home run of the season. The 26-year-old continues to be a solid performer at the top of the Orioles’ lineup and one of the best catchers in fantasy baseball. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:03 pm
    • Blake Snell dominates in rehab start on Sunday
Blake Snell delivered a dominant performance in his minor league rehab start at Single-A San Jose on Sunday, retiring all 12 hitters that he faced in order — seven of them via the strikeout.

Advice: Of course that’s the type of dominance that you would expect from a reigning National League Cy Young award winner squaring off against Single-A competition. Nonetheless, it was nice to see Snell pitching well on a mound once again. He only threw 46 pitches in the outing, so it’s unclear if he’ll require another minor league tune-up to get stretched out further, or if he’ll be deemed ready to return to the Giants’ rotation after this one. • Sitting for series finale
Perez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Perez will take a seat for the series finale after he had started in center field in each of the previous four games while going 4-for-17 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and two runs. Matt Vierling will replace Perez in center field. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:36 am

    • Pitches well in loss
Miller (3-3) was stuck with the loss against Oakland on Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out nine.

Advice: All of the damage against Miller came in the top of the third, when the 25-year-old issued a leadoff walk to Lawrence Butler to open the frame, followed by back-to-back singles. The right-hander allowed only two hits outside of that inning and retired 10 of the final 12 batters he faced, but he still got stuck with his third loss of the season due to a lack of run support. Miller has allowed two runs or fewer in six of his eight starts this season and recorded his second-highest strikeout total of the campaign Saturday with nine punchouts. • Bryce Miller posts nine strikeouts in loss to A’s
Bryce Miller recorded nine strikeouts and allowed two runs over six innings in a loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Miller deserved a better fate in this one as he generated an eye-popping 17 swinging strikes, including six on his splitter alone, and finished with a strong 34 percent CSW. The 25-year-old righty has quietly taken a significant step forward this season, increasing his strikeout rate to 27.9 percent, while allowing two earned runs or fewer in six of his eight outings so far. He’ll bring a stellar 2.66 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 51/15 K/BB ratio across 47 1/3 innings (eight starts) into a tough road tilt on Friday against the Orioles. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:41 am

    • Rhys Hoskins swats go-ahead homer vs. Cardinals
Rhys Hoskins connected for a go-ahead three-run homer on Saturday, lifting the Brewers to a 5-3 comeback win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Hoskins lifted a 407-foot shot to right-center field — his ninth big fly of the season — off Cardinals veteran reliever Andrew Kittredge in the seventh inning to put Milwaukee ahead for good in a low-scoring showdown. The 31-year-old slugger has started to really heat up recently, going deep three times over his last four games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:34 am

    • Fans seven in MLB debut
Skenes came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 10-9 win over the Cubs, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks over four-plus innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: The 21-year-old right-hander displayed some nerves in his big-league debut, throwing only 54 of 84 pitches for strikes, but he flashed his upside right out of the gate by hitting triple digits on the radar gun on his first two career pitches and reaching 100 mph on five fastballs in total against the first batter he faced, eventually striking out Chicago leadoff man Mike Tauchman on a 100.9 mph four-seamer. Skenes isn't heading back to the minors any time soon, and his next start should come on the road next week in a rematch with the Cubs. Rotowire.com Saturday, 9:25 pm

    • Pops homer in win
Hoskins went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Hoskins' blast came in the seventh inning off reliever Andrew Kittredge, and it put the Brewers ahead for good. Over the last four games, Hoskins is 5-for-15 with three homers and eight RBI. The first baseman's surge has him up to nine long balls, 26 RBI, 17 runs scored, a stolen base and a .233/.338/.481 slash line through 36 contests overall. Rotowire.com Saturday, 8:15 pm
