      Advice: Assad scattered baserunners throughout his start but never faced any heavy threats. He's allowed two or fewer runs in each of his first seven outings of 2024, but Sunday's performance was his first quality start since his season debut April 2. Assad dropped his season ERA to 1.66 with a 31:12 K:BB through 38 innings. He failed to factor into the decision in his previous three starts despite registering a 1.76 ERA over that span.       Max Fried allowed four runs on four hits in seven innings in a loss to the Dodgers on Sunday.

      Advice: Fried pitched well enough on the day, striking out seven and walking three while posting a 20 percent whiff rate and 30 percent CSW. He didn’t have his best command and had a zone rate under 50 percent on the day, but he avoided major damage until giving up a two-run home run to Teoscar Hernandez in the sixth inning.       Advice: Lindor got the Mets on the board right away, clubbing a two-run shot off Ryan Pepiot as the third batter of the game. The long ball was Lindor's sixth of the season and marked his third time logging multiple RBI in his last four games.       Luis Severino was charged with four runs in five innings Sunday in a no-decision against the Rays.

      Advice: Severino’s velocity was down a little today and he walked a career-high six batters, which is a little scary. He had never even walked five in a start previously. He’s not one of the Mets pitchers that typically has issues with the stolen base — he had allowed just one in his first six starts this season — but the Rays swiped three bases while he was in the game and seven in eight tries overall today. It’s the most runs he’s allowed since he was roughed up in his Mets debut on March 30. He’ll get the Braves next, so sitting him in mixed leagues seems like a good idea.     • Edwin Díaz gives up game-tying homer in ninth
      Edwin Díaz took his first blown save after giving up a homer to Randy Arozarena in the ninth inning Sunday against the Rays.

      Advice: The solo shot came on a 3-2 pitch with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. It wasn’t even technically a hard-hit ball from Arozarena, leaving the bat at 94.7 mph. Díaz has now given up three homers in 13 2/3 innings, matching the total he allowed over 62 innings in 2022 (and 62 2/3 innings in 2021). The long ball was his sixth of the year and second in the last four contests. The Brewers never really mounted a serious scoring threat against him, and he was able to cruise to an easy victory in this one.
