Blake Walston denied win after exiting in fifth
Blake Walston yielded two runs in 4 1/3 innings Tuesday in a no-decision versus the Giants.
Advice: Walston didn’t get a chance to go for his first big-league victory, as the Diamondbacks pulled him with a 4-1 lead in the fifth. To be fair, he did have two runners on base at the time. The Diamondbacks summoned Kevin Ginkel, usually more of a late-game reliever, and he stranded one of the two runners to make it 4-2. Walston has a 2.84 ERA after two starts and one relief appearance, but it’s concerning that he’s walked nine batters in 12 2/3 innings. He’ll likely get at least one more start before Zac Gallen returns.
