    • Tanner Houck dominates in victory over Tigers
Tanner Houck delivered a dominant performance in Friday night’s victory over the Tigers, allowing just one run on three hits over seven stellar innings.

Advice: The 27-year-old hurler racked up six strikeouts on the evening while issuing a pair of free passes. The lone tally against him came on an RBI single by Gio Urshela in the opening inning. After that, the Tigers never really threatened against him. Houck got 10 swings and misses on 95 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 32 percent. Now 5-5 on the season, he’ll carry an impressive 1.85 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and a 75/15 K/BB ratio (78 innings) into Thursday’s matchup against the White Sox in Chicago. Rotoworld 14 minutes ago

    • Kenta Maeda struggles in loss to Red Sox on Friday
Kenta Maeda struggled in Friday night’s loss to the Red Sox, giving up five runs on eight hits over his 4 2/3 innings.

Advice: On the plus side, Maeda was able to punch out six batters on the night while allowing just two walks. He was able to keep the Red Sox off the board through the first three innings, but they broke through for four runs in the fourth inning — including a three-run blast off the bat of Ceddanne Rafaela. Maeda got 11 swings and misses on 85 pitches on the evening, registering a CSW of 28 percent. He’ll look to improve upon a troublesome 6.25 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and a 30/12 K/BB ratio (40 1/3 innings) when he toes the slab against the Rangers in Arlington on Wednesday. • Tanner Bibee blazes past Nationals for win
Tanner Bibee allowed one earned run across 6 ⅓ innings in a 7-1 win over the Nationals on Friday. He struck out seven and walked one.

Advice: This was a tremendous start for Bibee mostly fueled by increased fastball velocity. His heater ticked up to 98 MPH and averaged 95.5 MPH, but tailed off in the seventh inning as the Nationals started to get around on him. This was the second time in three starts Bibee’s fastball averaged at least 95.5 MPH and keeping the velocity on that pitch up is the key to his success. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago

    • Patrick Corbin solid over six innings
Patrick Corbin allowed two earned runs across six innings in a loss to the Guardians on Friday. He struck out five and walked three.

Advice: Corbin is what he is at this point. Sure, he has three quality starts in his last four starts. Then you see his 5.83 and remember what he is. Leave him on the waiver wire. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago

    • Jeff Hoffman slams door on Cardinals on Friday
Jeff Hoffman slammed the door on the Cardinals in the ninth inning on Friday night, protecting a two-run lead to earn his fifth save of the season.

Advice: The 31-year-old hurler came on with a two-run advantage to protect against the heart of the Cardinals’ lineup. He made it look easy, getting Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Gorman on swinging third strikes before retiring Nolan Arenado on a fly ball to right to end it. Hoffman has been outstanding out of the Phillies’ bullpen this season, posting a 1.09 ERA and a 32/7 K/BB ratio over 24 2/3 innings of work. Rotoworld 58 minutes ago

    • Aaron Nola defeats Cardinals to improve to 7-2
Aaron Nola picked up his seventh victory of the season on Friday night, limiting the Cardinals to two runs on three hits over his 6 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: The 30-year-old right-hander racked up six strikeouts on the evening while issuing two free passes. Both of the runs against him came on solo home runs — one by Brandon Crawford in the third inning and another off the bat of Nolan Arenado in the seventh. Nola generated 10 swings and misses on 96 pitches on the night — six of those on his knuckle curve — while registering a CSW of 30 percent. Now 7-2 on the season, Nola will tote an impressive 3.03 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and a 71/22 K/BB ratio (77 1/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Brewers. Rotoworld 58 minutes ago

    • Miles Mikolas logs quality start in loss on Friday
Miles Mikolas posted a quality start in Friday’s loss to the Phillies, surrendering three runs on five hits across his six frames.

Advice: Mikolas struck out five batters on the night while issuing only one base on balls. All of the damage done against him came during a three-run uprising in the second inning as Brandon Marsh plated a run with a ground ball and Edmundo Sosa crushed a two-run homer. He finished his day with four scoreless innings though to keep the Cardinals in the game. The 35-year-old hurler got eight whiffs on 96 pitches in the contest, posting a CSW of 24 percent. He’ll carry a disappointing 5.54 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 50/14 K/BB ratio (65 innings) into Wednesday’s battle against the Astros in Houston. Rotoworld 58 minutes ago

    • Robbie Ray to pitch in ACL game next week
Robbie Ray (elbow) is scheduled to pitch in an Arizona Complex League game at some point next week as he continues his recovery from Tommy John surgery.

Advice: Ray continues to make strides toward a return to the Giants’ rotation. He’s going to wind up needing several minor league rehab starts after he’s finished with his work in the Arizona Complex League before he’s ready to return. As long as he avoids any setbacks along the way, he could be ready to make his Giants’ debut before the All-Star break. Rotoworld Today, 5:10 pm

    • Dodgers designate Elieser Hernandez for assignment
Dodgers designated RHP Elieser Hernandez for assignment.

Advice: The Dodgers needed to clear a spot on the active roster for Evan Phillips’ return on Friday night and unfortunately Hernandez was the odd-man out this time around. The 29-year-old hurler has posted an 8.38 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and a 6/3 K/BB ratio over 9 2/3 innings for the Dodgers this season. It’s likely that he’ll pass through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as extra pitching depth for the Dodgers at Triple-A Oklahoma City. Rotoworld Today, 5:01 pm
