      Daulton Varsho went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run against the Tigers on Thursday.

      Advice: Varsho came to the plate in a tie game in the seventh inning and hit a two-run home run off Tigers starter Jack Flaherty that put the Blue Jays ahead for good.       Luis Robert (hip) will start a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Charlotte.

      Advice: Finally some good news for Chicago as their star outfielder will wrap up play in Arizona this week before heading out to face some higher minor-league competition next week.       Robert (hip) will begin playing in rehab games at Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports.

      Advice: Manager Pedro Grifol didn't specify exactly how long Robert will be in the minors, saying it will be a matter of getting him enough at-bats to get his timing down.       Irvin will re-enter the Orioles' rotation following the injury to John Means (forearm), Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

      Advice: Each of Irvin's last two appearances have come in relief, but he's been terrific in seven starts this season, collecting a 2.90 ERA and 28:8 K:BB over 40.1 innings of work.       Jake Cronenworth is starting at second base for the first time in the 2024 season.

      Advice: This felt inevitable after the Padres traded for Luis Arraez, who is a well below-average defensive second baseman. Arraez will now slide to first base with Cronenworth moving to second. Cronenworth has been an above-average defensive second baseman over the last four seasons, so this move doesn’t figure to hurt the Padres at all and could be a boost for their pitchers.       King (4-4) picked up the win Wednesday, giving up three runs on four hits and two walks over 6.2 innings in a 7-3 victory over the Reds. He struck out six.

      Advice: The right-hander delivered his fifth quality start of the year, and his third in four May outings, on 92 pitches (62 strikes). King has had trouble maintaining consistency as he adjusts to being a full-time starting pitcher, but his 3.24 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 27:7 K:BB through 25 innings this month is encouraging.       Arozarena went 1-for-4 with a walk Wednesday against the Red Sox.

      Advice: Arozarena had a surge in power for the first two weeks of May with five homers in the first 12 games of the month, but he has struggled for the last week. In his last seven games, he has hit just .172 with a 29 percent strikeout to go along with three runs scored and no RBI.       McMahon went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's win over Oakland.

      Advice: McMahon went hitless in his first four at-bats before adding a single in the ninth and a two-run homer in the top of the 12th, which would end up being the game winner. It marked the third baseman's third consecutive game with a home run, and he's now up to five long balls in May to go along with 11 RBI and 12 runs scored.
