    • Christian Walker homers in win over Dodgers
Christian Walker went 2-for-4 with a solo homer, a double, and two runs scored on Wednesday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Walker led off the sixth inning with a solo homer off Elieser Hernández to extend the Diamondbacks’ lead. He later doubled in the eighth and scored on a passed ball. The 33-year-old first baseman is pacing right in line with his 2023 season, hitting .257/.358/.458 with 10 homers and 32 RBI across 215 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:02 pm
    • Throws seven scoreless innings
Bassitt (4-6) earned the win Wednesday over the White Sox, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out four over seven scoreless innings.

Advice: Bassitt threw 70 of 107 pitches for strikes and no trouble protecting the large lead the Blue Jays established in the second inning. He's allowed three runs or fewer in each of his four starts in May, with Wednesday's effort being his best game of the year. The veteran right-hander is at a 4.39 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 49:25 K:BB through 55.1 innings over 10 starts this season. Bassitt's next start is projected to be a rematch with the White Sox in Chicago. • Chris Bassitt shuts down White Sox over seven
Chris Bassitt tossed seven scoreless innings with four strikeouts in a win over the White Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: Bassitt had his best outing of the season, putting up his first zero on the scoreboard. He shut out the White Sox across seven innings, scattering five hits and two walks while striking out four on 107 pitches. The 35-year-old right-hander will take a 4.39 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and a 49/25 K/BB ratio across 55 1/3 innings into a start against the White Sox in Chicago on Monday. • Sitting out Wednesday
Marte isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Cleveland, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: Marte slugged a home run in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to Cleveland, but he'll get a breather for the Wednesday afternoon tilt. DJ Stewart will fill in in right field for Marte. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:10 am

    • Notches seventh save
Megill gave up a hit and struck out three in a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday to record his seventh save of the season in a 7-5 win over the Marlins.

Advice: After blowing his first save of the season the night before, Megill bounced back and fired 11 of 14 pitches for strikes to get the job done, with five of his fastballs clocking in at 99 mph or higher. The right-hander sports a 1.98 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 17:3 K:BB through 13.2 innings this season, and with Devin Williams (back) just now beginning to toss a baseball, Megill figures to handle closing duties with Milwaukee for at least another couple months. • Goes deep in win
Walker went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Walker led off the top of the sixth inning with a solo homer. The blast was Walker's ninth and tied him for the team lead with Ketel Marte. May has not been kind to Walker, who is batting .194 with a .606 OPS through 18 games, but he continues to lead the Diamondbacks with 31 RBI. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:44 am
    • Solid showing in loss
Schmidt (5-2) took the loss Tuesday against Seattle, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks across five innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Although Schmidt's scoreless-inning streak ended at 17 frames, he didn't allow more than three runs -- something he's yet to do this season. Dylan Moore inflicted all the damage on Schmidt, launching a two-run homer in the third inning. On the year, Schmidt boasts a 2.59 ERA with a 61:17 K:BB over 55.2 innings and owns his best strikeout rate since becoming a full-time big-leaguer in 2022. The 28-year-old is scheduled to face the Padres in San Diego on Sunday. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 8:46 pm
    • Stuck with loss
Kikuchi (2-4) took the loss Tuesday against the White Sox, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks across six innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Tuesday's performance marked Kikuchi's third quality start in his last four appearances. However, he owns a 0-2 record during that stretch as the Blue Jays have struggled offensively. The 33-year-old walked multiple batters for the first time since April 10 and was charged with two earned runs or fewer for the eighth time in 10 outings. On the year, Kikuchi owns a 2.64 ERA -- which would be a career-best tally -- with 61 strikeouts across 58 innings. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Tigers on Sunday. • Schmidt allows two earned in loss to Mariners
Clarke Schmidt allowed two earned runs and four hits over five innings in the Yankees’ loss to the Mariners.

Advice: The two earned runs Schmidt allowed came on a two-run homer by Dylan Moore on a pitch that was off the outside black of the plate. It was a well-thrown pitch that resulted in an unfortunate outcome for Schmidt, who was otherwise solid on the evening. He walked just two batters while striking out six and has now struck out six or more batters in seven of his 10 starts. Schmidt is scheduled to make his next start on Sunday against the Padres.
