    • Hits walk-off homer Sunday
Nimmo (ribs) did not start Sunday night's game against Atlanta, but entered the game late and subsequently hit a walk-off homer in his only at-bat.

Advice: During the broadcast, Nimmo was interviewed by the Sunday night ESPN crew and said that he expects to return Monday against the Phillies. To reinforce that point, Nimmo had two catches in left field in the eighth inning before his homer in the ninth. Unless he aggravated his injury in the process, Nimmo should be good to go for the upcoming week. Rotowire.com Today, 8:48 pm

    • Brandon Nimmo sinks Braves with walk-off blast
Brandon Nimmo played the role of hero on Sunday night in New York, crushing a walk-off two-run homer off of A.J. Minter to deliver a 4-3 victory over the Braves.

Advice: The Mets entered the final frame trailing 3-2, but things got interesting after Jeff McNeil started it off with a bunt single. He was then sacrificed to second base by Tomas Nido. McNeil got an unbelievable jump on a 2-1 offering to Nimmo and looked to have third base stolen, but Nimmo fouled the pitch off and showed clear frustration with himself over the situation. Not to worry though, as two pitches later he pulverized a cutter from Minter for a 396-foot (103.7 mph EV) walk-off blast. Not bad for his only at-bat in the contest. On the season, he’s now hitting .234/.379/.431 with six long balls and 27 RBI. Rotoworld Today, 7:18 pm

    • Three-run homer in loss
Castellanos went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Marlins.

Advice: Castellanos took Miami starter Braxton Garrett deep for a three-run shot in the top of the first inning, giving the Phillies an early 3-0 lead. The long ball was his fourth of the season and second homer in his last three contests. Castellanos has now secured at least one hit in eight consecutive games, batting .322 with two home runs, seven RBI, eight runs scored and a stolen base over 31 at-bats during that stretch. • Struggles in 2024 debut
Garrett pitched 5.1 innings, allowing five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out eight batters in Sunday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Phillies. He did not factor into the decision.

Advice: Garrett got off to a slow start in his season debut, giving up three runs in the top of the first inning on a homer by Nick Castellanos. He then tossed four scoreless frames before two more runs came around to score while he secured just one out in the top of the sixth frame. The left-hander did impress in the strikeout department though, punching out at least eight batters for the first time since June 22 of the 2023 campaign versus the Pirates. Garrett will look to produce a more well-rounded performance in his next start, which is tentatively set for Saturday at home versus the Mets. Rotowire.com Today, 3:53 pm
    • Adbert Alzolay gets extra inning save on Sunday
Adbert Alzolay allowed one run in one inning while securing his fourth save in a 5-4 extra-innings win over the Pirates on Sunday.

Advice: Hector Neris threw the ninth inning in a tie game and didn’t allow a run despite allowing two hits and walking one. Alzolay followed in the 10th and allowed a home run to Connor Joe that scored two, including the extra runner. It wasn’t a pretty effort and Alzolay still appears to be behind Neris and Mark Leiter Jr. in the closer hierarchy, but if Neris continues to look shaky than Alzolay has a chance to pitch himself back into the job. • Braxton Garrett inconsistent in no decision on SUN
Braxton Garrett allowed five runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Phillies on Sunday.

Advice: Garrett allowed five hits but six hard-hit baseballs and an average exit velocity of 91.2 mph on the day. He was able to post a 22 percent whiff rate and eight strikeouts on the day, but weirdly was getting most of his swings and misses and called strikes on his sinker. Most of his other pitches were not as effective and he threw the sinker and slider a combined 80 percent of the time. He averaged just 89.7 mph on the sinker today and has an 8.44 ERA since coming off the IL. He’s a risky stream against the Mets next weekend given his subpar stuff this year. Rotoworld Today, 2:08 pm
    • Brandon Nimmo (ribs) hopes to return on Monday
Brandon Nimmo (intercostal) expects to return to the Mets’ lineup on Monday.

Advice: The 31-year-old outfielder was pulled from Saturday’s game due to right intercostal irritation. He tried to talk manager Carlos Mendoza into letting him play on Sunday, but was unable to convince him. It does not sound like he’ll require a trip to the injured list though and should return to the Mets’ lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Phillies. Rotoworld Today, 1:29 pm

    • Brandon Nimmo (ribs) remains out Sunday
Brandon Nimmo (ribs) is not in the lineup for Sunday’s game against Atlanta.

Advice: Nimmo left Saturday’s game with a right intercostal irritation. The outfielder will be out again for the finale against Atlanta with DJ Stewart starting in his place and leading off against Bryce Elder. Rotoworld Today, 12:32 pm

    • Not starting Sunday
Nimmo (ribs) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against Atlanta, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Nimmo left after the fourth inning of Saturday's 4-1 loss due to right intercostal irritation. DJ Stewart will start in left field Sunday and bat in the leadoff spot against Atlanta right-hander Bryce Elder. Rotowire.com Today, 12:18 pm
