    • Snaps skid with homer
Goldschmidt went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's win over the Brewers.

Advice: Goldschmidt needed Sunday's performance in a big way; he entered the contest riding a 1-for-32 skid. He finally snapped out of it with a solo homer in the fifth inning, followed by a game-tying RBI single in the sixth. However, he also struck out twice, giving him an uncharacteristic 2:15 BB:K over his last eight games. On the year, Goldschmidt is now slashing .197/.280/.279 with six extra-base hits and 13 RBI through 38 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:07 pm
    • Plays full rehab game again
Gelof (oblique) played a full game at second base in Triple-A Las Vegas' win over Round Rock on Sunday, going 0-for-3 with an RBI sacrifice fly and a walk.

Advice: Gelof's ability to play a full game for the second straight day is certainly an encouraging sign for his progress from his oblique injury. The young infielder could be on the verge of activation, although the Athletics will undoubtedly evaluate him carefully Monday to see how he's responded to the back-to-back full workloads over the weekend. • Silences Dodgers over seven frames
Darvish (3-1) earned the win over the Dodgers on Sunday after firing seven shutout innings and allowing just two hits and a walk. He struck out seven.

Advice: Darvish extended his scoreless innings streak to 17 innings in another dominant outing since returning from the injured list April 30. He retired the first 14 hitters he faced in order until walking Andy Pages with two outs in the fifth. Darvish generated an excellent 19 whiffs and tied his season high with seven strikeouts. The 37-year-old owns a 2.43 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 37:12 K:BB in 40.2 innings and lines up for another tough task against Atlanta his next time out. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:32 pm

    • Two hits, swipes bag Sunday
Julien went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Julien led the game off with a single and added another base knock in the top of the eighth, stealing second base and scoring on an RBI double by Max Kepler in the frame. The stolen base was his fifth of the season and third over the last four games. Julien is now batting .224 with seven home runs, 15 RBI, 21 runs scored and five stolen bases over 125 at-bats in 40 games this year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:23 pm

    • Luis Castillo punches out eight in win over A’s
Luis Castillo picked up his fourth victory of the season on Sunday, limiting the Athletics to two runs on seven hits over his six innings of work.

Advice: The 31-year-old right-hander punched out eight batters on the afternoon and didn’t issue a base on balls. Both of the runs that Castillo allowed came via the long ball — with Max Schuemann blasting a solo shot in the fifth inning and Abraham Toro crushing one in the sixth inning. He got 14 whiffs on 100 pitches on the day, registering a CSW of 30 percent. Now 4-5 on the season, he’ll carry a 3.31 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and a 64/11 K/BB ratio (54 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Orioles in Baltimore. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:17 pm
    • Yu Darvish fires seven scoreless to beat Dodgers
Yu Darvish was magnificent in Sunday afternoon’s victory over the Dodgers, piling up seven strikeouts across seven innings of shutout baseball.

Advice: The 37-year-old right-hander allowed just two hits and one walk on the day. He retired the first 14 hitters that he faced in order until he walked Andy Pages with two outs in the fifth inning. He then allowed a single to Enrique Hernandez, but got Miguel Rojas to line out to end the threat. Darvish generated 19 swings and misses on 101 pitches in the ballgame — one or more on eight different offerings — while posting an elite CSW of 36 percent. He has yet to allow a run over 17 innings since returning from the injured list and now boasts a 2.43 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and a 37/12 K/BB ratio over 40 2/3 innings on the year. He draws a tough assignment next time out though, having to take on the Braves in Atlanta on Saturday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:36 pm

    • Paul Goldschmidt homers, knocks in two in win
Paul Goldschmidt snapped his skid with a solo homer and an RBI single as the Cardinals edged the Brewers 4-3 on Sunday.

Advice: Goldschmidt was 1-for-32 with 14 strikeouts this month. He did strike out twice more today, and his current 32% K rate is one reason to think he won’t be bouncing all of the way back from this hideous start. Still, things have to get better from here. He’s batting .197/.280/.279. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:46 pm
    • Getting Sunday off
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Arenado will be out of the lineup for Sunday's game in Milwaukee, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: Arenado isn't dealing with an injury, as Marmol characterized the third baseman's absence from the lineup as an off day. The 33-year-old had started each of the Cardinals' first 39 games of the season and is maintaining a .703 OPS, the lowest mark of his career. He didn't appear to be turning a corner at the plate over the first three games of the series in Milwaukee, as he went just 1-for-12 with three strikeouts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:34 am

    • Nolan Arenado getting Sunday off vs. Brewers
Nolan Arenado is not starting Sunday’s game versus the Brewers.

Advice: Arenado will get his first day off of the year. The third baseman has registered a .767 OPS in the month of May and has hit .270/.331/.372 thus far in 2024. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:31 am
