    • Brent Rooker doubles in loss
Brent Rooker went 2-for-4 with a double on Wednesday against the Angels.

Advice: The Athletics keep losing, but Rooker keeps hitting. The double was his 32nd extra-base hit of the season and his OPS has climbed up to .845, 20th in the league among qualified players. Rooker could be in for a monster second-half if the A’s decide to trade him before the deadline. Rotoworld Today, 3:50 pm

    • Higashioka homers twice, plates six to lead Padres
Kyle Higashioka had a monster day at the dish in Wednesday’s 8-5 victory over the Nationals, going 3-for-6 with a pair of homers, three runs scored and six RBI.

Advice: The 34-year-old backstop got the scoring started in the ballgame with a 386-foot (107.2 mph EV) two-run blast off of Nationals’ southpaw DJ Herz in the second inning. He then singled and scored on an RBI knock by Jurickson Profar in the fourth. Higashioka then capped off the afternoon with a 390-foot (104.2 mph EV) grand slam off of Tanner Rainey in the eighth that made it 8-0 put the game out of reach. He’s now slashing .207/.240/.522 with eight homers and 20 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Today, 3:47 pm

    • Manny Machado has two hits in victory over Nats
Manny Machado went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and a run scored as the Padres bested the Nationals on Wednesday afternoon in San Diego.

Advice: Machado led off the eighth inning with a single off of Tanner Rainey, then rode home on Kyle Higashioka’s grand slam. With his two-hit attack on Wednesday, the 31-year-old superstar third baseman is now hitting .264/.316/.390 on the season to go along with eight homers, 40 RBI and five stolen bases. • Lane Thomas plates two runs in loss to Padres
Lane Thomas smacked a two-run double, drew a pair of walks and scored a run on Wednesday as the Nationals fell to the Padres in San Diego.

Advice: Thomas finally broke through and got the Nationals on the board with a two-run double off of Tom Cosgrove in the ninth inning. He scored later in the frame on a two-run double by Luis Garcia, but the five-run rally in the ninth still fell short. The 28-year-old outfielder was also cut down attempting to steal second base in the ballgame. He finished the afternoon 1-for-2 and is now hitting .243/.302/.431 to go with eight homers, 34 RBI and 17 stolen bases (in 23 attempts) on the season. Rotoworld Today, 3:46 pm

    • Taking seat Wednesday
Jeffers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The 27-year-old and Christian Vazquez have alternated starts over Minnesota's past 21 games, and that trend will continue after Jeffers went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer Tuesday. Rotowire.com Today, 3:35 pm
    • Taking seat Wednesday
Biggio is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Biggio has typically only sat against left-handed starting pitchers since joining the Dodgers earlier this month, but he'll hit the bench Wednesday while right-hander Erick Fedde takes the hill for the White Sox. Enrique Hernandez steps in for Biggio at third base. Rotowire.com Today, 3:27 pm

    • Draws start in series finale
Barnes will start at catcher and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: He'll be making his 22 start of the season while top backstop Will Smith rests in the series finale. Over 74 plate appearances on the campaign, Barnes is hitting .203 with no home runs and two RBI. Rotowire.com Today, 3:25 pm

    • Swats 11th homer
McCutchen went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 6-1 win over the Reds.

Advice: His fifth-inning shot off Graham Ashcraft gave the 37-year-old designated hitter his third homer in the last 12 games, and his 11th of the campaign. McCutchen only slugged 12 home runs in 112 games last year and hasn't reached 20 long balls in a season since 2021, but it appears he still has some pop left in the tank. On the season, he's slashing .238/.338/.405 over 67 contests with 24 RBI and 42 runs. Rotowire.com Today, 3:21 pm
    • Sitting during nightcap
Carpenter isn't in the Cardinals' lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against Atlanta.

Advice: Carpenter went 1-for-1 with a single and a sacrifice fly during a loss in Game 1, and the Cardinals will give him a breather to conclude Wednesday's activities. Willson Contreras will instead serve as St. Louis' DH while Pedro Pages starts behind the plate. Rotowire.com Today, 3:20 pm
