      Clay Holmes blew his second save of the season against the Mariners on Monday.



      Advice: Holmes hadn’t allowed an earned run all season. He entered with a 4-1 lead against the Mariners. After a Josh Rojas ground to begin the ninth inning, the floodgates opened. Julio Rodriguez hit an infield single. Cal Raleigh walked. Luke Raley hit an infield single and Gleyber Torres threw the ball into the Yankees dugout to make it 4-2. Mitch Haniger singled to center to make it 4-3. Dylan Moore walked. Dominic Canzone hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game and Ty France singled on a ground ball to give the Mariners the lead. In all, Holmes allowed four earned runs and only recorded two outs without allowing any hard contact. His ERA is up to 1.74 on the season.

      Robert Suarez pitched a perfect ninth with a one-run lead for a save against the Braves in the first game of Monday’s doubleheader.

      Advice: Sewald needed just 10 pitches to get the job done and picked up a strikeout against Spencer Torkelson in the process. He's now converted all three of his save chances on the year and has tossed four straight scoreless innings while giving up just one hit since yielding a run in his season debut May 7.       Advice: Williams was pulled at 97 pitches midway through the fourth but was able to keep one of baseball's best offenses in check. He yielded just one extra-base hit and the final run charged against him came after his departure, when Jacob Barnes allowed a walk, a single and a sacrifice fly to the first three batters he faced. After posting a 5.55 ERA last season, Williams boasts a 2.35 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP across 46.0 innings with a 4-0 record.       Paul Sewald slammed the door on the Tigers on Sunday afternoon, working a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a two-run advantage.

      Advice: The 33-year-old hurler picked up his third save of the season for his efforts. He made it look awfully easy in this one, needing just 10 pitches (nine strikes) to get Wenceel Perez on a fly ball, Spencer Torkelson on strikes and Javier Baez on a pop out to second base to end it.       Trevor Williams yielded three runs in 4 1/3 innings Sunday in a no-decision against the Phillies.

      Advice: Williams still hasn’t given up more than three runs in a game this season, though the quick hooks help there; he’s gotten a total of five outs beyond the fifth inning in his nine starts. Williams will eventually start giving up homers again.       Lugo (7-1) earned the win Saturday over the Athletics, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out 10 over 5.2 innings.

      Advice: Lugo was able to limit the damage to a two-run home run by Seth Brown in the second inning. This was Lugo's second straight start with double-digit strikeouts, though he came up one out short of a fifth straight quality start. The right-hander is now at a 1.79 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 58:13 K:BB through 65.1 innings over 10 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start on the road against the Rays.
