    • Set for big-league debut
Skenes' contract was purchased from Triple-A Indianapolis ahead of his big-league debut Saturday against the Cubs.

Advice: Skenes is the best pitching prospect to come along in over a decade, and his big-league debut is as highly anticipated as any pitching prospect's debut in recent memory. The big 6-foot-6 righty not only had the best statistical performance of any starter in the minors this year, but he has the best pure stuff as well. Skenes logged a 0.99 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, a 42.9 percent strikeout rate and a 7.6 percent walk rate in 27.1 innings at Triple-A. He has averaged just under five innings per start over his last three starts, but after throwing 129.1 innings in 2023, he should be able to push toward 160 total innings this year with good health. • Two more RBI
Steer went 2-for-3 with a walk, double and two RBI in Friday's 4-2 win over San Francisco.

Advice: Steer's first-inning, two-out double plated the Reds' first run, then his third-inning single tied the game. He has four RBI in the last two games and leads the Reds with 27 runs driven in. Rotowire.com Today, 9:27 am

    • Pirates summon Paul Skenes for MLB debut
Pirates selected the contract of RHP Paul Skenes from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Advice: Skenes will take the ball on Saturday afternoon against the Cubs at PNC Park in the most anticipated pitching debut since Stephen Strasburg back in 2010. The flame-throwing 21-year-old first-overall selection from the 2023 MLB Draft has checked every box this season for Triple-A Indianapolis during his meteoric ascent, posting a microscopic 0.99 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 45/8 K/BB ratio across 27 1/3 innings (seven starts). He projects as an immediate impact fantasy contributor, thanks to his elite strikeout upside, despite some looming workload limitations. Rotoworld Today, 7:45 am

    • Third straight two-steal game
De La Cruz went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs scored in Friday's 4-2 win over the Giants.

Advice: De La Cruz stole a base after each of his hits, no doubt taking advantage of the Giants starting their fourth-string catcher, Jakson Reetz, in this contest. This was De La Cruz's third straight game with multiple steals, and he's achieved that feat seven times already this season. The speedy infielder is up to 25 thefts on 29 attempts in 2024 while maintaining a .271/.370/.519 slash line through 38 games. He's added eight home runs, 20 RBI, 28 runs scored, seven doubles and a triple while serving as the Reds' No. 2 hitter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:05 pm
    • Elly De La Cruz steals two bags in win over Giants
Elly De La Cruz stole two bases and went 2-for-4 with two runs scored in a 4-2 win over the Giants on Friday.

Advice: With those two steals, De La Cruz is already up to 25 on the season. The speedy infielder also helped turn a terrific double play and remains must-see television anytime there’s a chance to watch. De La Cruz has absolutely lived up to the hype in the early portion of 2024, and then some. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:49 pm
    • Picks up 12th save
Holmes earned the save in Friday's 2-0 win over the Rays, working around a hit and two walks while striking out three in a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: The Rays loaded the bases against Holmes in the ninth before the right-hander struck out Jonny DeLuca for the final out. Holmes has yet to allow an earned run this year, pitching to a 1.04 WHIP with 21:3 K:BB over 17.1 innings. He's up to 12 saves, tied with Kyle Finnegan and Robert Suarez for the league lead. • Takes fourth loss
Jones (2-4) took the loss Friday against the Cubs, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Jones allowed a solo homer to Cody Bellinger in the first inning before the Cubs tacked on runs in the fifth and sixth. The 22-year-old Jones has yet to allow more than three runs in a start this season -- his ERA sits at 2.68 with a 0.87 WHIP and 56:7 K:BB across 47 innings in his rookie campaign. Jones is currently lined up for a rematch with Chicago on the road in his next start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:50 pm
    • Jared Jones turns in quality start in loss
Jared Jones yielded three runs — two earned — in six innings Friday in a loss to the Cubs.

Advice: The unearned run was the product of Yasmani Grandal losing the ball on the tag on what should have been a very nice play to get Nico Hoerner at home. It’s rare to see errors called on such things, but Grandal had plenty of time to get the tag down after a fantastic relay from Oneil Cruz and just botched it. Jones finished with just four strikeouts tonight despite getting 18 whiffs. Part of the problem was that he had only nine called strikes on his 87 pitches. He’s now 2-4, even though his ERA stands at 2.68. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:46 pm
    • Continues dominant run
Suarez (7-0) allowed three hits and two walks over seven shutout frames Friday, striking out nine while earning a win over the Marlins.

Advice: It was another terrific outing for Suarez, who took advantage of a soft matchup against Miami by turning in his fourth scoreless outing of the year. He punched out a season-high nine batters and let only two Marlins get into scoring position. Suarez has tossed seven consecutive quality starts, earning a win in each. He lowered his ERA to 1.50 with a 55:8 K:BB through 54 frames. Suarez is currently in line for a home matchup with the Mets next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:38 pm
