    • Heading to bench Wednesday
Turner is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Advice: Turner will head to the bench for the second time in the series, opening up the designated-hitter spot for Daniel Vogelbach in the finale. Though he's begun to heat up in June with a .400 on-base percentage and .407 slugging percentage, Turner is still maintaining a .676 OPS on the season, the worst mark of his career since he became an everyday player in the big leagues. • Louie Varland sent back to Triple-A
Twins optioned RHP Louie Varland to Triple-A St. Paul.

Advice: Varland was called up for a spot start on Tuesday to give the starting rotation a rest and did well, allowing just one hit over five innings against the Rockies while walking only one batter and striking out three. He will head back to Triple-A to continue working on his changeup and cutter, which were two things the Twins were concerned about in his early-season struggles. He should be back up for starts later in the season or if another injury occurs in the Twins rotation. Jay Jackson was called up to take his place on the roster. Rotoworld Wednesday, 8:00 am

    • Sent down after spot start
The Twins optioned Varland to Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Varland made a successful spot start Tuesday against the Rockies, spinning five scoreless frames while taking a no-decision in Minnesota's 5-4 loss. The Twins will use his roster spot for a fresh relief arm, with Jay Jackson coming up from Triple-A to join the bullpen. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:45 am

    • On base four times Tuesday
Carroll went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, a walk, an RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 9-4 win over the Angels.

Advice: Carroll began his night with an RBI triple in the second and later came around to score. He then doubled his next time up in the fourth and would walk and cross home once more in the fifth. Carroll's been dialed in at the plate as of late. Over his last five games, he's tallied nine hits and four walks while not striking out a single time. The mini surge has lifted his slash line to .213/.300/.309 with 15 extra-base hits, 21 RBI, 35 runs and a 29:52 BB:K over 283 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:03 am

    • Another steal Tuesday
Marte went 0-for-2 with three walks and a stolen base in Tuesday's 9-4 win over the Angels.

Advice: Marte drew multiple walks for the first time this season and has now swiped a bag in back-to-back games, bringing him up to three steals on the year. He continues to have a sharp eye at the plate so far in June, as he's slashing .375/.512/.688 with three homers, six RBI, eight runs and an 8:7 BB:K in 41 plate appearances. • Goes yard twice in win
Schwarber went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: The veteran slugger led off the game with a deep blast to right field off Kutter Crawford, then did it again to lead off the fifth. Schwarber's June exploits have become legendary -- per Paul Casella of MLB.com, he's averaging one homer every 10.4 at-bats in his career during the month, the best pace in MLB history ahead of Babe Ruth's 10.6. Schwarber's current groove extends back to late May, and over his last 12 games he's slashing .277/.382/.532 with four long balls and seven RBI. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 4:16 am
    • Corbin Carroll goes 3-for-4 in D-backs’ victory
Corbin Carroll went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and a walk versus the Angels on Tuesday.

Advice: Carroll has nine hits, four walks and zero strikeouts in his last five games, boosting his OBP from .278 to .300. He’s still a long way from where he needs to be, but things are getting better. Rotoworld Tuesday, 11:49 pm

    • Blanks Rockies in spot start
Varland didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against Colorado, allowing one hit and one walk with three strikeouts across five scoreless innings.

Advice: Varland was part of the Twins rotation to start 2024, but after falling to a 9.18 ERA after four starts, he was sent down to Triple-A. The 26-year-old also struggled in the minors, owning a 5.31 ERA before being called up Tuesday to give Minnesota's starters an extra day of rest. Varland made quick work of the Rockies, needing just 63 pitches to get through five innings. However, he didn't qualify for the win, as the Twins didn't score until the seventh inning. • Varland pitches five scoreless in spot start
Louie Varland pitched five scoreless innings while striking out three in the Twins’ 5-4 loss to the Rockies on Tuesday.

Advice: Varland held the Rockies in check all night, allowing just one hit while walking only one batter. Unfortunately, his solid effort was enough to earn him the win, as the Twins offense mustered just two hits while he was on the mound and eventually fell behind in the sixth thanks to a three-run homer by Ezequiel Tovar. It was Varland’s best outing by far, as he showed good command of his stuff and needed just 63 pitches to get through his five frames. He entered the day with a 9.18 ERA but saw that number drop to 7.06 thanks to the strong night. He’ll be in line to start on Sunday against the Athletics at home if he sticks around with the big league club. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:28 pm
