      Advice: Doval entered the game with a three-run lead in the ninth and quickly retired the first two batters on strikes before walking Mookie Betts and surrendering a single to Shohei Ohtani. However, the right-hander was able to get Freddie Freeman to ground out for the final out and notch his seventh save in as many chances.       Camilo Doval struck out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning for the save against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

      Advice: Doval was summoned to close out the game with a three-run lead in the ninth. He struck out the first two batters, then walked Mookie Betts before giving up a base hit to Shohei Ohtani.       King (3-4) took the loss against the Rockies on Wednesday, allowing six runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out seven betters over 5.1 innings.

      Advice: King fell behind when he yielded three runs in the second inning, and San Diego's offense never put up a fight against Austin Gomber and a trio of Rockies relievers. King had been on a roll coming into Wednesday, putting up 13 scoreless frames over his previous two starts, but he's been very inconsistent this season, giving up at least four runs in four of his 10 appearances.     • Michael King hit hard in loss to Rockies
      Michael King was hit hard in Wednesday afternoon’s loss to the Rockies, surrendering six runs on eight hits across his 5 1/3 innings of work.

      Advice: On the plus side for fantasy managers, King racked up seven strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing just two free passes. The Rockies scored three times in the second inning — including a solo blast by Brenton Doyle — then tacked on two more in the third. King settled in nicely afterwards though and kept them at bay until the sixth, where he exited after allowing single that eventually came around to score. King got 14 swings and misses on 89 pitches on the afternoon while registering a CSW of 33 percent. With extreme inconsistency on the season, he now sports a 4.31 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and a 60/26 K/BB ratio over 54 innings through his first 10 appearances (nine starts).       Miller, who'd pitched just once in the previous 11 games entering Tuesday's extra-inning loss to the Astros, threw 14 fastballs of at least 100.5 mph out of his 29 pitches during his two scoreless innings, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Miller's arm was clearly fresh, and manager Mark Kotsay deployed his closer for multiple innings in the tie game as a result. Miller rewarded him by recording five strikeouts -- including of the noteworthy trio of Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez and Jeremy Pena -- over his 29 pitches. The elite velocity helped Miller to his 13th straight scoreless outing and extended his career-high scoreless streak to 17.1 innings. The improved - but still inconsistent - Athletics have afforded Miller just eight save chances among his 14 appearances, but he's converted each and now boasts a minuscule 0.98 ERA and 0.65 WHIP alongside a 38:5 K:BB across 18.1 innings.       Ragans (2-3) took the loss against the Angels on Saturday, allowing seven runs on eight hits and one walk over 6.1 innings. He struck out three.

      Advice: Ragans first ran into trouble in the top of the second after surrendering a leadoff triple to Kevin Pillar to open the frame, which would eventually lead to three runs coming home for Los Angeles. The lefty would also surrender runs in the third and seventh innings, with the final two of those runs coming across after he was relieved by Nick Anderson. Ragans had given up two runs or fewer in each of his last three starts coming in, but ended up matching his season high with seven runs allowed in Saturday's loss.       Cole Ragans was torched for seven runs over 6 1/3 innings on Saturday in a loss to the Angels.

      Advice: The final line isn’t pretty, but it looks worse than it probably should as Ragans was charged with two additional runs following his exit from the contest when Nick Anderson allowed both inherited runners to cross the plate. A three-run homer by Jo Adell in the second inning was responsible for most of the damage against him in this one. The 26-year-old lefty notched only three strikeouts and issued one walk. He’ll bring a pedestrian 4.22 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 57/16 K/BB ratio across 49 innings (nine starts) into a favorable home matchup on Friday against the Athletics. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:23 am

      Advice: King put four runners on base but also racked up eight strikeouts over his first three innings. He ended up missing out on the win after Yuki Matsui allowed the game-tying run in the eighth inning. King was unsteady late in April, but he's opened May with 13 scoreless innings. The right-hander has a 3.67 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 54:24 K:BB through 49 innings over nine appearances (eight starts) this season.       Michael King struck out 11 over seven scoreless innings against the Dodgers on Friday.

      Advice: Sensational. King was excellent against the Diamondbacks on Saturday, but this was a different level for the 28-year-old. He did walk three, but he threw 74-of-106 pitches for strikes and was able to get the punchout if there was even a sniff of trouble. The right-hander now has a 3.67 ERA and 54/24 K/BB, and he’s shown why the Padres were adamant about acquiring his services in the Juan Soto trade. Sadly, King doesn’t get a win because his bullpen blew a 1-0 lead after he left. He should keep the good run going against the Rockies at home next week. Rotoworld Friday, 8:58 pm
