The Red Sox put up all five runs against Rodon during the first two innings, and the Yankees' offense wasn't able to muster a comeback. The southpaw still has a strong 3.28 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP and 81:23 K:BB through 85 innings over 15 starts this year.       Carlos Rodon struggled in Saturday night’s loss to the Red Sox, surrendering five runs on seven hits over his five innings of work.

      Advice: The 31-year-old southpaw still managed to punch out seven batters on the evening while issuing three free passes. The Red Sox jumped on him in the opening inning, using run-scoring knocks from Tyler O’Neill, Connor Wong and Jaime Westbrook to push three runs across. They added another pair in the second on a two-run double by Rafael Devers. Rodon generated 18 swings and misses on 109 pitches on the night — eight of those on his fastball — while posting a CSW of 28 percent.       Diamondbacks’ manager Torey Lovullo told reporters on Friday that right-hander Zac Gallen (hamstring) will pitch in a simulated game on Tuesday.

      Advice: The 28-year-old hurler is slated for three innings or around 45 pitches in the session. After that, he’ll likely need another simulated game — or perhaps a minor league rehab start — before he’s ready to return to the Diamondbacks’ rotation.       Crochet allowed one run on two hits and two walks while striking out 13 batters over seven innings in a no-decision against Seattle on Thursday.

      Advice: Crochet was absolutely dominant in the outing, inducing 24 swinging strikes and finishing with a career-high 13 punchouts. The only run against the southpaw came via Tyler Locklear's first career homer in the fifth inning, and Crochet was in line for the victory before Michael Kopech blew a save opportunity in the ninth. Despite a few rough starts in April, Crochet has been a revelation for the White Sox and for fantasy managers this season. Over his past nine starts, he's recorded a 1.36 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and 76:11 K:BB over 53 innings. Crochet is tied with Tyler Glasnow for the major-league lead with 116 punchouts on the campaign.       Garrett Crochet struck out 13 batters over seven innings of one-run baseball but didn’t pick up a decision Thursday against the Mariners.

      Advice: Crochet was absolutely dominant while taking advantage of a team that strikes out at an enormous rate, so the results are equally impressive and not surprising. He did allow a solo homer to Tyler Locklear, but outside of that and a Victor Robles double, it was smooth sailing for the 24-year-old. The 13 punchouts are a season-high, but this is a hurler who has already fanned 116 batters in just-under 83 innings with a 3.16 ERA.       Valdez (5-4) took the loss Wednesday against San Francisco, allowing five runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out one.

      Advice: It was a tough day for Valdez, who allowed two runs in the third inning before the Giants scored three more in the fourth. The 30-year-old Valdez had allowed just five runs in three starts (22 innings) coming into Wednesday's matchup. The left-hander now sports a 3.99 ERA with a 1.21 WHIP and 51:19 K:BB across 67.2 innings this year.
