    • Luis Rengifo goes 3-for-4, homers in loss
Luis Rengifo finished 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI versus the Phillies in Tuesday’s loss.

Advice: New Angels manager Ron Washington made it very clear early on that he wasn’t a Rengifo fan, but at this point, it’s hard to justify not batting him first. He was in the fifth spot tonight. but he has about 60 points of OBP on leadoff man Nolan Schanuel, and he’s definitely the more effective baserunner of those two. Rengifo should be of use in mixed leagues if and when the Angels bat him at the top of the order regularity, Rotoworld Tuesday, 11:34 pm

    • Goes yard again
Rengifo went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run and a stolen base during Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Rengifo gave the Angels a lead in the sixth inning, tagging reliever Yunior Marte for a three-run shot to plate Taylor Ward and Brandon Drury. After going homerless in his first 22 games, Rengifo has clobbered long balls in two of his last three contests and has scored five times in his last five games. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:30 pm

    • Idle versus lefty
Carpenter isn't in the Tigers' lineup versus the Cardinals for the last game of Tuesday's doubleheader.

Advice: The Cardinals are starting southpaw Steven Matz on the bump, which sends Carpenter to the bench. With him on the bench, Wenceel Perez will occupy right field and bat seventh. Additionally, Mark Canha has the start as the designated hitter and will bat third. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 3:33 pm
    • Tee work from both sides of plate
Edman (wrist) took swings off a tee from both sides of the plate last week, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Advice: Edman had been limited to hitting only from the right side due to lingering concerns about his surgically repaired right wrist. However, he's now progressed to hitting from both sides of the dish and has done so without any soreness. Edman will continue a hitting progression as tolerated and appears far off from a return, but he's progressing. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:18 pm

    • Swats first homer Sunday
Rengifo went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run in Sunday's loss to Minnesota.

Advice: Rengifo's two-run blast was a key part of a four-run fifth inning for the Halos, but Minnesota pulled away late to drop the Angels' record to 10-18. Rengifo has been a locked-in part of the team's lineup of late, starting five straight games at either second or third base. Since April 17, the utility man is slashing .343/.425/.514 with one homer, five RBI, six runs and three stolen bases over 11 contests. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:11 pm

    • Goes on paternity leave
The Yankees placed Verdugo (personal) on the paternity list Monday.

Advice: While he leaves the team to celebrate the birth of his child, Verdugo won't be available for Monday's series opener in Baltimore, and he'll most likely remain away for games Tuesday and Wednesday before he would need to be activated ahead of Thursday's series finale versus the Orioles. The Yankees are scheduled to face right-handed starting pitchers for each of their next three games, so left-handed-hitting outfielders Trent Grisham and Taylor Trammell could represent logical replacements in the lineup for Verdugo. • Luis Rengifo swats first home run in loss Sunday
Luis Rengifo swatted his first home run of the season on Sunday afternoon as the Angels fell to the Twins.

Advice: The versatile 27-year-old tagged Twins’ right-hander Pablo Lopez for his 372-foot (95.7 mph EV) two-run shot in the fifth inning. He was also hit by a pitch in the seventh inning and scored on an RBI single off the bat of Mike Trout. Rengifo finished the afternoon 1-for-3 and is now hitting a solid .289/.341/.395 with a homer, eight RBI and seven stolen bases on the season. Rotoworld Sunday, 5:05 pm

    • Drives in four runs
Verdugo went 3-for-5 with a home run, four RBI and two runs in Saturday's 15-3 win against the Brewers.

Advice: The Yankees offense came alive Saturday, and Verdugo led the way with a three-run homer in the opening inning. It was the outfielder's second straight game with a homer and his fourth long ball of the campaign. Verdugo started slow over the first couple weeks of the season with a .454 OPS through 10 games, but over the past three weeks he has a .350/.446/.600 slash line with six doubles, three homers and an 11:7 BB:K in 74 plate appearances.
