    • Start pushed back
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Wednesday that Gallen (hamstring) won't start Friday as scheduled in an effort to provide him extra rest, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Advice: The right-hander was originally set to start Wednesday, but Tuesday's starter Jordan Montgomery was pushed back a day since the start time was delayed two hours. Gallen apparently isn't having any issues with the hamstring injury that surfaced in his previous start, but Lovullo has still decided to give his ace some extra rest. The earliest Gallen will take the mound is Sunday versus the Padres, but it's possible he gets some additional time, as team off days Thursday and Monday give Arizona some flexibility. • Zac Gallen (hamstring) won’t start on Friday
Diamondbacks’ manager Torey Lovullo told reporters Wednesday that Zac Gallen (hamstring) will not start on Friday.

Advice: Lovullo noted that Gallen’s hamstring is actually fine now, they just want to give him some extra rest. Expect the Diamondbacks to finalize their rotation plans for the weekend shortly. Rotoworld 46 minutes ago

    • Tracking toward return next week
Reds manager David Bell said Tuesday that he expects Montas (forearm) to return from the 15-day injured list when first eligible May 7 or the day after, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Montas was placed on the IL on April 22 with a bruised right forearm, which he sustained when he was struck by a line drive in his start a day earlier. Bell noted that Montas threw a side session Monday without issue, and the right-hander will throw one more bullpen session later this week as a final test of his health. If all goes well, Montas should rejoin the rotation for the Reds' three-game series with the Diamondbacks that begins next Tuesday. Rotowire.com Today, 2:27 pm

    • Stumbles in Boston
Webb (3-2) took the loss Tuesday, giving up four runs on nine hits and three walks over 3.2 innings as the Giants fell 4-0 to the Red Sox. He struck out four.

Advice: After four straight starts in which he lasted at least seven innings and allowed two runs or less, Webb struggled to put away hitters and generated only four swinging strikes among his 91 pitches. Despite the stumble, the 27-year-old right-hander still sports a 2.98 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB through 42.1 innings, and he's served up just one homer so far in 2024. Webb faces a tough challenge in his next scheduled start, which lines up to come on the road this weekend in Philadelphia. Rotowire.com Today, 6:53 am
    • Logan Webb knocked out early by Red Sox
Logan Webb allowed four runs on nine hits in 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Advice: Webb allowed just two extra-base hits, but the Red Sox tagged him early and often on Tuesday as Webb allowed an average exit velocity on balls in play of 99.5 mph. However, it just seems like a bad outing. He struggled to find the command of his changeup, which led to just a 13 percent whiff rate and the Red Sox hitters were able to tee off when he did land his pitches in the strike zone. We wouldn’t read too much into it and would still start Webb even in a tough matchup against the Phillies this weekend. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:53 pm
    • Confirmed for Wednesday's start
Gallen (hamstring) will make his regularly scheduled start Wednesday against the Dodgers, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Advice: Gallen's bullpen session earlier in the day went well, and skipper Torey Lovullo confirmed late Monday evening that the right-hander will indeed take the mound Wednesday after exiting his previous outing Friday due to hamstring spasms. Gallen owns a 3.38 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with a 35:9 K:BB across 32 innings this season. Rotowire.com Monday, 10:05 pm

    • Tosses bullpen Monday
Gallen (hamstring) threw a bullpen session at Chase Field on Monday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Advice: Gallen indicated Sunday that believes he'll be ready for his next scheduled start, which would tentatively line up for Wednesday, and Monday's bullpen backs up this optimism. Assuming he still feels strong Tuesday morning, there appears to be a good chance he'll toe the rubber later this week. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:00 pm

    • Zac Gallen (hamstring) throwing bullpen Monday
Zac Gallen (hamstring) is throwing a bullpen before Monday’s game against the Dodgers.

Advice: Gallen left Friday’s start against the Mariners with a hamstring issue, but the exit was deemed precautionary, and manager Torey Lovullo expressed that he was optimistic that Gallen would make his next start. Assuming all goes well with the bullpen session, that seems to check out for Wednesday’s start against the Dodgers. Rotoworld Monday, 4:09 pm

    • Little run support Sunday
Gilbert did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Diamondbacks. He allowed two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out nine in 6.1 innings.

Advice: Gilbert allowed an early solo home run to Christian Walker in the second. He was then able to keep the Diamondbacks off the scoreboard until Eugenio Suarez doubled home another run in the seventh to even things up at 2-2, ultimately knocking Gilbert from the game and spoiling his chance at a win. Still, it was another excellent outing from the 27-year-old. His nine strikeouts were a season-high and he's managed to go at least six innings and all but one start so far. Gilbert now owns a sparkling 2.03 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 44:9 K:BB in 40 innings and lines up to face the Astros on the road next weekend. Rotowire.com Monday, 2:43 am
