  • Tarik Skubal gives up two homers in loss to Braves
    Tarik Skubal surrendered five runs — four earned — in four innings Wednesday in a loss to the Braves.

    Advice: Skubal struck out seven and gave up only five hard-hit balls. Unfortunately, two of those hard-hit balls went 426 and 407 feet, as Skubal allowed two homers for just the second time this season. It’s the fourth time this season that he’s allowed exactly four earned runs. He’s given up a total of nine earned runs in his other 11 outings. Rotoworld Wednesday, 12:31 pm
     
  • Takes second straight loss
    Skubal (8-3) took the loss Wednesday against Atlanta, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out seven.

    Advice: Most of the damage against Skubal came via the long ball Wednesday -- he gave up a two-run homer to Sean Murphy in the third inning before Ramon Laureano tacked on a solo shot in the fourth. The 27-year-old Skubal has now lost back-to-back starts for the first time this season -- he's given up eight earned runs over 10.1 innings in that span. The left-hander still sports a solid 2.50 ERA on the year with a 0.97 WHIP and 105:18 K:BB across 90 innings. Skubal is lined up for another tough matchup next week at home versus the Phillies.   • Strikes out six in win
    Myers (4-2) allowed four hits and two walks while striking out six over 6.1 scoreless innings to earn the win over the Angels on Tuesday.

    Advice: Myers rattled off his third consecutive quality start while matching his season high with the six strikeouts. The right-hander is quickly growing into a trusted starter for the Brewers amid the team's brutal run of injuries to pitchers. Myers has a 3.26 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 42:16 K:BB through 47 innings over 10 appearances (nine starts) this year. He doesn't stand out by most metrics, though he's been able to use his four-seam fastball, slider and changeup effectively so far. Myers is projected to make his next start on the road at San Diego.   • Tobias Myers goes 6 1/3 scoreless in latest win
    Tobias Myers blanked the Angels for 6 1/3 innings in the Brewers’ 6-3 victory Tuesday.

    Advice: Myers moved to 4-2 with his third consecutive gem; he’s allowed just one run over 20 1/3 innings his last three times out. There’s little here to suggest continued dominance for Myers, but the Brewers have gotten quality results out of average arms and they back their pitchers with above average offense and defense.
