• Gavin Stone charged with four runs in loss
Gavin Stone lost to the Diamondbacks after allowing four runs in six innings on Tuesday.

Advice: Stone came up a little short of delivering a fifth straight quality start and took his first loss since April 7. He gave up eight hits, walked one and struck out five in falling to 4-2 with a 3.60 ERA. Stone might get a two-start week against the Mets and Rockies next week, which would make him a great play in shallow leagues. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:43 pm

  • Tough no-decision Sunday
Paddack notched a no-decision decision Sunday despite allowing just two runs on three hits and no walks over eight innings against the Guardians. He struck out six.

Advice: Paddack bounced back after allowing five runs and 12 hits in his last start against the Yankees. He pitched into the eighth inning for the first time with the Twins and kept the Twins in the game until they lost in the bottom of the ninth inning. Rotowire.com Sunday, 10:11 pm

  • Chris Paddack fires eight innings in no-decision
Chris Paddack threw eight innings and allowed just two earned runs on Sunday against the Guardians. He struck out six and walked none.

Advice: This was the longest outing of Paddack’s career and the first time he’s pitched into the eighth innings since July 17th, 2019! His 4.47 ERA remains a bit unsightly, but he’s shown tremendous signs of progress with his solid changeup, great command, and new slider. Rotoworld Sunday, 1:13 pm

  • Option for saves
Ottavino should be in the mix for save opportunities going forward after manager Carlos Mendoza said Sunday that closer Edwin Diaz will shift to a "fluid" role, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Diaz had a strong start to the season after missing all of 2023 with a torn patellar tendon, but his confidence is off after a period where he's given up seven runs in his past three outings. Ottavino has a 2.95 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 26:6 K:BB across 18.1 innings this season and has recorded eight holds and a save in a setup role. Reed Garrett should also be in the mix for the ninth inning until Diaz rediscovers his form. Rotowire.com Sunday, 12:37 pm
  • Hamstring tightened during start
Gallen revealed after Saturday's start against the Tigers that his right hamstring tightened up on him during the fourth inning, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: It's the same hamstring that he had issues with earlier this season, which resulted in an early removal from one start and having another pushed back. Gallen wound up pitching into the seventh inning Saturday, ultimately getting charged with three runs on seven hits while striking out 10 over 6.2 frames. The right-hander said after the outing that his hamstring feels fine and he's unconcerned. Still, given that it's been a recurring problem, it's something to keep in mind. • Zac Gallen strikes out 10 in loss to Tigers
Zac Gallen pitched well in a losing effort against the Tigers on Saturday night, racking up 10 strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings of three-run baseball.

Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander scattered seven hits on the night and didn’t allow a base on balls. He had kept the Tigers off the board completely through the first six innings, but the wheels fell off in the seventh. After allowing a leadoff double to Gio Urshela, he struck out the next two hitters before allowing an RBI double to Javier Báez and an RBI single to Carson Kelly before turning the ball over to the bullpen — who would allow the inherited runner to score as well. Gallen generated a whopping 20 swings and misses in the ballgame — 12 of those on his knuckle curve — while posting an elite CSW of 40 percent. He’ll bring a 3.02 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and a 55/14 K/BB ratio (50 2/3 innings) into Friday’s showdown against the Marlins. Rotoworld Saturday, 8:04 pm

  • Strong start wasted Saturday
Falter came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 1-0 loss to the Cubs, allowing three hits and two walks over 7.2 scoreless innings. He struck out two.

Advice: While he wasn't dominant, managing only six swinging strikes among his 83 pitches, Falter produced a steady stream of weak contact and didn't give up an extra-base hit or let a baserunner get into scoring position until the eighth inning. Falter has delivered back-to-back quality starts, giving him four on the season, and the southpaw will take a 3.53 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 29:13 K:BB through 51 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next weekend against Atlanta. • Fans career-high 14 in win
Gil (5-1) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over six innings in a 6-1 victory over the White Sox. He struck out 14.

Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander set a new career high in Ks -- in fact, Gil had never struck out more than nine batters in a big-league start before. He generated an incredible 22 swinging strikes among his 98 pitches, and 40 combined called/swinging strikes, as he produced his fourth straight quality start and won his fifth straight decision. Gil is having a breakout campaign, and he'll take a 2.39 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 62:27 K:BB through 49 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Mariners. • Bailey Falter holds Cubs scoreless into eighth
Bailey Falter struck out two batters across 7 2/3 scoreless innings in a no-decision against the Cubs on Saturday.

Advice: Falter silenced the Cubs bats into the eighth inning in a pitching showdown against Shota Imanaga. He scattered three hits and two walks, striking out two. The Pirates couldn’t get anything across the board to put Falter in line for a win. The 27-year-old left-hander will take a 3.53 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and a 29/13 K/BB ratio across 51 innings into a matchup against the Braves in Pittsburgh on Friday. Rotoworld Saturday, 1:34 pm
