• Tough no-decision Sunday
Paddack notched a no-decision decision Sunday despite allowing just two runs on three hits and no walks over eight innings against the Guardians. He struck out six.

Advice: Paddack bounced back after allowing five runs and 12 hits in his last start against the Yankees. He pitched into the eighth inning for the first time with the Twins and kept the Twins in the game until they lost in the bottom of the ninth inning. Rotowire.com Sunday, 10:11 pm

  • Chris Paddack fires eight innings in no-decision
Chris Paddack threw eight innings and allowed just two earned runs on Sunday against the Guardians. He struck out six and walked none.

Advice: This was the longest outing of Paddack’s career and the first time he’s pitched into the eighth innings since July 17th, 2019! His 4.47 ERA remains a bit unsightly, but he’s shown tremendous signs of progress with his solid changeup, great command, and new slider. Rotoworld Sunday, 1:13 pm

  • Option for saves
Ottavino should be in the mix for save opportunities going forward after manager Carlos Mendoza said Sunday that closer Edwin Diaz will shift to a "fluid" role, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Diaz had a strong start to the season after missing all of 2023 with a torn patellar tendon, but his confidence is off after a period where he's given up seven runs in his past three outings. Ottavino has a 2.95 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 26:6 K:BB across 18.1 innings this season and has recorded eight holds and a save in a setup role. Reed Garrett should also be in the mix for the ninth inning until Diaz rediscovers his form. Rotowire.com Sunday, 12:37 pm
  • Grabs third save
Hoffman earned the save in Friday's 4-2 win over the Nationals, allowing one hit in a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: After Jose Alvarado finished the eighth inning, the Phillies turned to Hoffman in the ninth. The right-hander worked around Joey Gallo's one-out double to record his third save of the season, and his first since April 30. Hoffman's been sharp this year, pitching to a 0.90 ERA with a 0.95 WHIP and 27:7 K:BB over 20 innings. While Alvarado is still Philly's preferred ninth-inning option, Hoffman should see the occasional save chance depending on matchups. Rotowire.com Friday, 6:26 pm

  • Jeff Hoffman slams door on Nationals in ninth
Jeff Hoffman slammed the door on the Nationals in the ninth inning on Friday evening, protecting a two-run lead to earn his third save of the season.

Advice: Jose Alvarado came on to get the final two outs in the eighth inning of this one, leaving Hoffman to clean things up in the ninth. He did allow a one-out double to Joey Gallo that brought the tying run to the dish, but was able to get Ildemaro Vargas on a pop up to second base and Jesse Winker on a fly ball to right field to end it. Hoffman has been outstanding out of the Phillies’ bullpen this season, registering a 0.90 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and a 27/7 K/BB ratio across 19 1/3 innings. Rotoworld Friday, 6:00 pm

  • Extends scoreless innings streak
Weaver struck out three batters, walked one and gave up two hits over two scoreless innings in relief in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Twins.

Advice: Weaver covered the seventh and eighth frames Wednesday, allowing a single in each inning but keeping the Twins off the scoreboard. The veteran right-hander has gone 17.1 frames without giving up an earned run, lowering his season ERA to 2.25 in the process. Weaver has posted an outstanding 30:5 K:BB across 28 innings on the season and has tallied the first five holds of his career after spending most of his previous eight campaigns as a starter. • Rocked by Yankees
Paddack (4-2) took the loss Tuesday against the Yankees, allowing five runs on 12 hits and two walks across five innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Paddack couldn't get much by the Yankees on Tuesday, tying his career high in hits allowed while all nine NYY batters generated a hit. The poor showing was a surprise considering Paddack was victorious in his previous four starts -- allowing five runs across 23.1 innings with two 10-strikeout games. Paddack has allowed two or fewer runs in five of his eight starts but owns a 4.89 ERA and a 1.65 WHIP over 42.1 innings. He's lined up to face the Guardians in Cleveland on Sunday. • Paddack allows 12 hits, five earned runs vs. Yanks
Chris Paddack allowed 12 hits and five earned runs over five innings in Tuesday’s loss to the Yankees.

Advice: Paddack struggled in the second inning of this one, allowing four hits and two runs before retiring Juan Soto and Aaron Judge to end the inning. He’d give up a solo homer to Giancarlo Stanton in the third inning and was pulled after the fifth inning and 95 pitches. Paddack tied a season-high with 12 hits allowed in this one and saw his WHIP rise to 1.65. His next start is slated to come on Sunday against the Guardians. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:29 pm
