• In line for more work
Short went 0-for-1 with a walk and a stolen base in Monday's loss to St. Louis.

Advice: Orlando Arcia left the game in the sixth inning complaining of dizziness, and Short took over at shortstop and as the No. 9 hitter. It was his first game action since June 5, and with Arcia likely to get at least Tuesday's game off, the 29-year-old utility infielder should pick up his first start since May 25. Short's .150/.320/.200 slash line in 50 plate appearances since joining Atlanta suggests he won't be much more than a DFS punt play, however. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:44 am

  • Knocks in two as PH
Gonzalez entered as a pinch hitter and delivered a two-run single in the eighth inning of Monday's 7-6 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Gonzalez was part of a four-run uprising in the eighth that set up Boston's walk-off win. After he was sent up to pinch hit for Dominic Smith against a lefty, Toronto countered with a righty reliever, and Gonzalez delivered a clutch two-out, two-run single to tie the game. He took over at first base for the final frame. Gonzalez has served in the short side of a platoon at second base since being activated off the injured list a little more than a week ago. He's also filled in at multiple positions whenever needed. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:59 am

  • Aledmys Díaz goes 0-for-3 against Angels
Aledmys Díaz went 0-for-3 with a strikeout as Oakland’s No. 9 hitter Monday against the Angels.

Advice: The A’s got ridiculously lucky that someone took Jace Peterson off their hands last summer, so they’ll keep giving Díaz the occasional start in the hopes that lightning will strike twice. The 33-year-old Díaz is 3-for-27 since returning from a calf injury on May 28. He hit .229/.280/.337 last year in the first season of a two-year, $14.5 million contract. Rotoworld Monday, 9:37 pm

  • Available to pinch hit Monday
Drury (illness) went through a workout before Monday's game against the Athletics and will be available off the bench, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Drury has been held out of the lineup since Saturday due to an upper respiratory virus, but he's close to returning to the starting lineup. Michael Stefanic draws the start at second base Monday with Drury available off the bench. Rotowire.com Monday, 5:33 pm

  • Draws third straight start
Urias will start at third base and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Guardians.

Advice: Urias looks to be gaining traction in Baltimore's everyday lineup, as he'll pick up his third straight start Monday and fifth start in six games. The uptick in playing time has corresponded with Urias' surge at the plate; dating back to May 27, he's slashing .293/.349/.517 over a stretch of 19 games. Jorge Mateo looks to be the primary loser from a playing-time perspective from Urias' uptick in starts, as he'll hit the bench Monday for the third time in five games. Rotowire.com Monday, 11:50 am

  • Clubs seventh homer
Gordon went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's win over the Mariners.

Advice: The 28-year-old capped a four-run first inning for the Marlins with a shot to right field off Bryce Miller. The homer was Gordon's seventh of the season but his first in June, and even with Sunday's performance he's slashing just .205/.217/.341 on the month with a 1:11 BB:K in 16 games. • Goes deep in easy win
McKinstry went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Sunday's 11-2 win over the White Sox.

Advice: McKinstry was one of four Detroit players to go deep and perhaps the most surprising one, as this was just his second of the season across 51 games. The utility player is batting only .185, and while he's seeing more playing time right now with Javier Baez (back) on the injured list, McKinstry may be better suited to a reserve role due to his limited offensive abilities. • Edmundo Sosa out Sunday with left elbow contusion
Edmundo Sosa (elbow) is not in the lineup for Sunday’s showdown against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: It doesn’t come as much of a surprise to see Sosa on the bench following his early exit from Saturday’s game against the Diamondbacks being hit by a pitch on the left elbow. The versatile 28-year-old is day-to-day for now and will probably be ready to return in a couple days, if not sooner. Rotoworld Sunday, 6:56 am

  • Swipes 11th bag
Palacios went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Pirates.

Advice: The 27-year-old began the day on the bench, but when Amed Rosario (face) got hit by a 99.6 mph Jared Jones fastball in the first inning, Palacios entered the lineup and ended up being the only Ray with multiple hits in the game. Brandon Lowe (toe) also went down Saturday and figures to miss some time, so Palacios could move into a full-time role in the short term -- Tampa Bay isn't scheduled to face a left-handed starter until it begins a series against the Nationals next weekend. On the season, Palacios is slashing .237/.332/.333 with four homers, 14 RBI, 31 runs and 11 steals in 64 contests. Rotowire.com Sunday, 5:58 am
